Texas Tech senior Cameron Warren earned Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week honors, while Kansas’ Ryan Cyr garnered Pitcher of the Week and Casey Burnham was tabbed Newcomer of the Week. The Week 12 honorees are selected by a five-person media panel.
Warren led the Big 12 in batting average (.556), slugging percentage (1.222) and on-base percentage (.680) last week. He homered in consecutive innings in Tech’s series-opening win at Oklahoma, including a three-run shot in the seventh that gave the Red Raiders a 7-6 edge.
Cyr, a redshirt junior, pitched his third-consecutive complete game with a shutout victory over Texas. The right-hander struck out six and allowed just two hits and two walks in the Jayhawks’ series-clinching 1-0 victory over the Longhorns.
Burnham’s first-career home run came in the bottom of the ninth against Texas, propelling the Jayhawks to a 4-2 come-from-behind win. The freshman right fielder finished the week with a .500 batting average (5-of-10), two singles, a double, a triple and a homer.
All three selections this week are first-time honorees.
