Big 12 Tennis Earns Singles and Doubles Berths

The Big 12 will be well represented at the 2019 NCAA Tennis Championship in singles and doubles competition as announced today by the NCAA. A total of 15 for the men (nine singles and six doubles) and 10 for the women (eight singles and two doubles) will make the trip to Orlando, Florida, for individual and tandem competition.

Texas leads the way for both the men and women in singles competition with three representatives each, while TCU is set to send the most tandems for the men with two.

TCU’s Alex Rybakov will head to the USTA National Campus as the highest-ranked Big 12 men’s student-athlete with a No. 4 seed. The Longhorns’ Christian Sigsgaard earned his bid as a No. 7 seed, while fellow teammate, Yuya Ito, ranks within the No. 9 ??? and No. 16 seeds.

In doubles action, Sven Lah and partner Jimmy Bendeck will travel to South Florida with as the No. 1 seed. Sigsgaard and Harrison Scott are seeded between No. 5 and No. 8 for the national championship.

For the women, a total of eight will be making the trip to the Sunshine State, led by Kansas’ Anastasia Rychagova, who was seeded between No. 9 and No. 16. For UT, Petra Granic, Anna Turati and Bianca Turati will make an appearance, while an individual from KU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas Tech will compete in the national competition.

The doubles tandems of Janet Koch/Nina Khmelnitckaia (Kansas) and Sofia Blanco/Catherine Gulihur (Oklahoma State) are set to compete and represent the league.

Competitors for each student-athlete named will be announced at a later date as action is set to run from May 20 through May 25 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, hosted by UCF.
