The bids for the 2019 NCAA Tennis Championship have been released as all six men’s teams earned spots, while five teams were chosen on the women’s side.
For the fourth time in the last five years, all six men’s tennis programs will be heading to the NCAA Tennis Championship (Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech).
Five of the leagues 10 women’s tennis programs garnered a place in the national tournament as 2019 Big 12 Tennis tournament Champions Kansas, along with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, regular-season champ Texas and Texas Tech were selected.
Three Big 12 men’s teams are set to host the first and second rounds (No. 6 Baylor, No. 10 TCU and No. 2 Texas), while Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech will travel to College Station, Texas (Texas A&M), Los Angeles, California (UCLA) and Palo Alto, California (Stanford), respectively, to play out the opening rounds.
BU, the Big 12 men’s tennis tournament champion, will host Utah in the opening round, while Oklahoma is set to face Arizona on the road. OSU will battle Ole Miss in Los Angeles, California, as TCU squares off at home against Harvard. The Longhorns and the Red Raiders will matchup against Tennessee Tech and UCSB, respectively.
On the women’s side, Lawrence, Kansas (Kansas), Stillwater, Oklahoma (Oklahoma State), and Austin, Texas (Texas), will play as host cities to the first two rounds. No. 9-seeded Texas is set to battle LIU Brooklyn, while No. 14-seeded KU welcomes Denver. The No. 15-seeded Cowgirls will host Central Arkansas.
The Lady Raiders will travel to Los Angeles, California (USC), to face UNLV, while Oklahoma is set to play Winthrop in Chapel Hill, N.C. (UNC).
First and second round competition will take place May 3-4, with four teams playing a single-elimination format at each host site. The winner of each site will advance to the USTA National Campus (Collegiate Center) in Orlando, Florida, where the 16 remaining teams will compete for the national championship May 16-25.
