Lawrence, Kan. – Day one at the 2019 Big 12 Tennis Championship has concluded, No. 7-seeded Kansas State and No. 8-seeded Baylor captured 4-0 victories in their respective women’s matches. Both matches were played simultaneously.
The Wildcats took on the No. 10 seed, West Virginia, opening both teams’ postseason play. With a 4-0 shutout over the Mountaineers, K-State will advance to take on No. 2 Oklahoma State, a match to be played on Friday, April 19, at 9 a.m. CT at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
The second match played on the day saw No. 8 Baylor defeat No. 9 Iowa State, 4-0. With the win, the Bears will face No. 1-seeded Texas on Friday, April 19, at 3 p.m. CT at the JTC.
Also set to play on day two of the Big 12 Tennis Championship, No. 4 Texas Tech against No. 5 Oklahoma at 3 p.m. CT on the Sports Pavilion Courts, while host-school and No. 3-seeded Kansas will take on No. 6 TCU at 12 p.m. CT at the JTC.
The men’s portion of the tennis championship is scheduled to open with No. 4 Texas Tech and No. 5 Oklahoma at 9 a.m. CT, with a No. 3 TCU and No. 6 Oklahoma State battle set to start at 12 p.m. CT. Both matches will be played on the Sports Pavilion Courts and the winners will advance to face No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Baylor, respectively.
