The No. 1 seed Texas tops the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship standings by five strokes following the first day of competition. The Longhorns carded a 287 (-1).
The team was led by Sara Kouskova, who is in first place through 18 holes, after carding a 67 (-5). The freshman had a bogey-free day and recorded five birdies. Sophomore Agathe Laisne, who sits in third, also helped pace the Longhorns finishing with a 69 (-3). Laisne picked up six birdies, including three straight on holes No. 15 through No. 17.
Trailing the Longhorns is Baylor at 292 (+4) with the help of Gurleen Kaur, who is one shot behind Kouskova at 68 (-4). Kaur finished with seven birdies, the most carded by any player today. Kansas earned third place with a total of 297 (+9) and TCU sits in fourth at 299 (+11). Oklahoma State comes in fifth after recording a 300 (+12), followed by Oklahoma in sixth at 301 (+13) and Iowa State and Texas Tech tied for seventh at 305 (+17). Kansas State is in ninth with a score of 311 (+23).
Action resumes Monday morning with the leaders teeing off last. Kansas State, Texas Tech and Iowa State tee off at 8:00 a.m., followed by Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and TCU at 9:00 a.m. The final group of Kansas, Baylor and Texas begin at 10:00 a.m.
