THINGS TO CARE ABOUT

“This can’t be real” … That was Baker Mayfield’s reaction to the Odell Beckham Jr. trade, and honestly, we don’t blame him. The Browns never get amazing players in trades like this — but then again, these Browns are much different from the hapless teams of the past two decades. We went behind the scenes to find out how one of the biggest trades in NFL history really went down. Read More

The wrong kind of history … Chris Davis simply cannot hit the ball. He is closing in on an all-time record for batting futility: After Sunday’s loss to the Yankees, he is 0-for-his-last-44, just two shy of the all-time record held by Eugenio Velez. Bad news for Orioles fans: He is signed to the richest contract in Orioles history. Read More

Things Zach Lowe likes … It’s the end of the NBA season, and that means it’s Zach Lowe’s final 10 Things I Like, as well. Reserve some time for this one: Not only is it not abbreviated, you’re getting 14 things Lowe likes for the price of 10. Which is … free. So hey, great value! Read More

TOURNEY’S END

Texas Tech vs. Virginia

It all comes down to this. By now, your bracket is probably irreparably busted (unless you picked Texas Tech to win it all, in which case, well done!) Both of these teams are extremely stingy on defense, so don’t go in expecting some kind of offensive explosion. Of course, given that the NCAA tournament is all about surprises, well, anything’s possible. Our experts take their last shot at predicting one of the more unpredictable tournaments in recent memory. REMEMBER WHEN?

On this date in 1974, Hank Aaron passed Babe Ruth as the all-time home run leader by hitting No. 715. He would hold the title until Barry Bonds passed him in 2007. Later in 1974, Aaron also would pass Ruth for the all-time RBIs lead, a title he still holds.

WHAT’S ON TONIGHT?

Yankees at Astros (7 p.m. ET, ESPN): Masahiro Tanaka takes on Justin Verlander in this potential playoff preview. The man to watch right now for the Yankees is Gary Sanchez — he only has eight hits on the season, but six of them are home runs. That makes for a slugging percentage of .813, which is not too shabby.

Nationals at Phillies (7:05 p.m. ET, ESPN+): Bryce Harper faces Washington yet again, only this time he’s in his new home. So far this season, Harper is hitting .714 with a .2086 OPS against his former team, which just has to make Nationals fans feel great about this whole thing.

(3) Texas Tech vs. (1) Virginia (9:20 p.m. ET, CBS): In case you didn’t know how to watch the biggest college basketball game of the year, uh, here you go.
