Alabama’s Second Varsity Eight was selected as the Big 12 Boat of the Week for the second week of races.
The crew garnered Boat of the Week for their performance against Jacksonville and Creighton over the weekend. For the fourth time this season and for the third consecutive week, No. 17 Alabama rowing swept its opponents, winning all its races against both teams. The Second Varsity 8+ placed first in the standard 2,000-meter race with a time of 6:34.8. The crew had the biggest winning margin of any Tide boat, crossing the line 25 seconds ahead of Jacksonville and Creighton.
After a short break, the teams went head-to-head in a three sprint-style pieces, where the 2V8+ finished in second (2:38.9) to help secure yet another sweep for the Tide.
This is the second Big 12 weekly honor for Alabama.
