FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU gave up the lead to Cincinnati, but the Horned Frogs held the opposition to just five points in the fourth quarter, earning TCU a berth in the Postseason WNIT semifinals for the second straight season with a 69-55 victory.
Cincinnati used a 15-3 run to get back in the mix and take the lead, but shots by Jordan Moore, Amy Okonkwo and Lauren Heard sent the Frogs back up, 62-51 with 7:14 left in the game.
TCU (24-10) will face Arizona in the semis on Wednesday, April 3 in an 8:30 p.m. CT tipoff in Tucson.
The Frogs were led by Okonkwo’s 20 points and 13 rebounds; Moore had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Heard had 10 points. TCU had a 46-33 edge in rebounds.
Cincinnati (24-11) got 25 points from Antoinette Miller, with 13 points and eight rebounds coming from Iimar’I Thomas. The Bearcats were just 2-for-16 from 3-point range.
TCU led after one quarter, 21-18, but Miller’s early production led to 14 points for her in the frame to keep the Bearcats close. Cincinnati’s effort to come back was rewarded with about 6:30 left in the third quarter; Thomas had a conventional three-point play, and Andeija Puckett hit a layup as the Bearcats took a 44-41 lead.
TCU countered with a 10-0 run to end the third quarter, taking a 56-50 lead.
