Big 12 Standouts Finalists for National Awards

Four Big 12 women’s basketball student-athletes and a coach are semifinalists or finalists for national awards this season.

Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey, the 2019 Big 12 Coach of the Year, is one of four finalists for the Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Award.

Unanimous All-Big 12 First Team performer Kalani Brown from Baylor is a finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award, Senior CLASS Award and John R. Wooden Award.

Back-to-back Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Lauren Cox is a finalist for the Katrina McClain Award and the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Iowa State’s Bridget Carleton, the Big 12 Player of the Year, is a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award and the Senior CLASS Award. Brown, Carleton, Cox and West Virginia’s Tynice Martin are listed on the Wade Trophy Watch List.

Award winners will be announced in the next few weeks leading up to the Women’s Final Four in Tampa, Florida.
