Four Big 12 Teams Earn Spot in NCAA Championship

March 18, 2019

Four Big 12 women’s basketball teams were selected to the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship.

Baylor earned the Conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA field after winning the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship last week. The Lady Bears (31-1), who won their ninth-consecutive regular-season title, are the No. 1 overall seed and are in the Greensboro Regional. This is the sixth time overall and the third time in the last four years that BU is a No. 1 seed.

Joining Baylor in the NCAA Championship are No. 3-seed Iowa State, No. 7-seed Texas and No. 9-seed K-State. The Lady Bears and the Cyclones will host first and second round games. Iowa State is the No. 3 seed in the Chicago Regional.

Including this year’s selections, the Big 12 has 136 appearances in the NCAA Championship since inception in 1996-97.
