Texas Tech outfielder Cameron Warren was named Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while teammate Dylan Neuse was tabbed Newcomer of the Week. Oklahoma’s Levi Prater was selected as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week. A five-person media panel selects the weekly award winners.
Warren belted the game-winning grand slam with two outs in the ninth, as the Red Raiders outlasted San Diego State on March 6. The senior finished the week with homers in three consecutive games, as he capped the week with a .500 batting average, 13 RBI, eight runs, eight hits and five walks.
Prater pitched eight shutout innings and guided the Sooners to the series-clinching win at Rice on Sunday. The senior southpaw matched a career-high with nine strikeouts and allowed just three hits and one walk.
Neuse, a sophomore transfer from McLennan Community College, registered a .450 (9-of-20) batting average, totaling nine hits, nine RBI, 11 runs and six extra-base hits last week against San Diego State and Wichita State.
All three award winners this week are first-time honorees.
