Texas outfielders Austin Todd and Eric Kennedy were named Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, respectively, for week three. West Virginia right-hander Kade Strowd was tabbed Pitcher of the Week. A five-person media panel selects the weekly award winners.
Todd batted .357/.526/.751 during the week that included a sweep of top-ranked LSU. He registered a two-run homer and a walk-off single in the series finale to secure the Longhorns’ sweep over LSU.
The freshman outfielder Kennedy hit .474 (9-of-19) and drove in six in four games last week. He notched six-hits against LSU during the weekend and finished the series with two doubles on Sunday to secure the UT sweep of the Tigers.
Strowd, a right-hander for the Mountaineers, took a no hitter into the seventh inning at No. 5 Oregon State. He surrendered just one hit and fanned five in 6.1 innings pitched, as the Mountaineers upset the defending national champions 2-0 on Sunday.
The weekly awards are the first for all three honorees.
