Denver’s Maddie Karr and Oklahoma’s Maggie Nichols and Oliva Trautman registered Big 12 gymnastics weekly awards for the ninth week of competition.
Karr tabbed Gymnast of the Week, for the second consecutive week, after helping lead DU to the program’s highest-ever road score (197.775) and the second highest score all-time. The junior won the all-around (39.675) and vault (9.900) titles, while also capturing a share of the beam title with a career-high tying 9.950.
Nichols earned Event Specialist of the Week for her clutch performance on both beam and bars against No. 2 UCLA. The junior took home the beam title with a score of 9.975, making it her fourth 9.975 in her last five meets. She also earned a 9.925 on bars, which is her seventh score of 9.9 or better this season.
Trautman recorded Newcomer of the Week for her outstanding routine on floor against the Bruins. The freshman capped off an incredible meet for the No. 1 Sooners earning a 9.950 on floor, her ninth score of 9.9 or better this season. The gymnast has yet to earn below a 9.9 on the event and posted her fifth score of 9.95 or better this season.
This is the seventh career honor for Trautman, the eighth for Karr and 19th for Nichols.
