Denver’s Maddie Karr, Emily Glynn and Alexis Vasquez swept Big 12 gymnastics weekly awards for the eighth week of competition.
Karr recorded Gymnast of the Week for matching her best all-around performance against No. 10 Boise State and Iowa State, earning a 39.700 to win the all-around title and tie the seventh-highest score in program history. The junior gymnast also took home event titles for vault (9.975) and floor (9.900).
Glynn was awarded Event Specialist of the Week after posting her highest score of the season on bars with a 9.925, capturing her first event title of the year. The sophomore’s score contributed to DU’s 49.400 team score on the event, which ties for the fifth-highest score in program history.
Vasquez earned Newcomer of the Week for the second time this season, after tying her career high with a 9.950 on beam, which tied for the fifth-highest score in program history. The freshman also won the event title and helped DU to a school-record 49.550 overall.
This is the second career honor for Glynn and Vasquez and the seventh for Karr.
