Four Gymnast Earn Big 12 Weekly Award Nods

Denver’s Lynnzee Brown, West Virginia’s Kirah Koshinski and Oklahoma’s duo of Jade Degouveia and Olivia Trautman earned Big 12 gymnastics weekly honors for the seventh week of competition. 

Brown was awarded Gymnast of the Week, for the second consecutive week and third time this season, after earning an all-around score of 39.775, which shattered her previous career high and tied DU’s all-time record. The sophomore set or tied her personal bests on three events (vault, bars, and beam) and in the all-around. She also captured the event titles in the all-around, vault, bars and floor. 

Degouveia and Koshinski were tabbed Co-Event Specialists of the Week. Degouveia was a crucial part of the Sooners’ victory after competing on vault (9.85) and floor (9.95). The junior has now posted a 9.9 or higher on floor in three of her last four meets. Koshinski earned a 10.0 from one of the judges, the first of her career, and won the floor event with a career-high 9.975. The senior is the first to score a 9.975 on floor since 2002 for WVU. 

Trautman received Newcomer of the Week for the fifth time this season, after taking home two event titles and two career highs on vault (9.975) and floor (10.0). She became the fourth freshman in program history to earn a perfect 10 and the second freshman to earn a perfect 10 on floor, joining teammate Maggie Nichols.
