West Virginia’s Angelo Russo, Morgan Bullock, P.J. Lenz and Averly Hobbs earned Big 12 swimming and diving accolades for week five.
Russo was named Men’s Swimmer of the Week for winning an individual event and a relay victory against Pittsburgh. The sophomore swimmer won the 100 back in 49.15 and helped the 400 free relay team to a first place finish with a time of 3:00.51.
Lenz received Men’s Diver of the Week after sweeping boards against Pittsburgh. The freshman earned a career-best score of 334.20 on the 3-meter before adding a second victory of the day on the 1-meter with a score of 305.63.
Bullock earned Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the third time in her career, after winning three individual and one relay event. After helping the Mountaineers win the 200 medley relay (1:44.24), the junior went on to place first in the 100 fly (55.43), 200 fly (2:00.58) and 200 IM (2:05.17).
Hobbs was awarded Women’s Diver of the Week for the second time this season, after registering a pair of second-place finishes in the 1-meter with a score of 285.60 and 3-meter with a score of 304.43.
