The University of Texas men’s tennis program was named the No. 1 team in the Big 12 Preseason Tennis Poll in unanimous fashion. This marks the first time since 2012 that the men’s team was deemed the preseason favorite in the coaches’ poll. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own teams.
Five first-place votes went in favor of the Longhorns with the remaining vote going to Baylor. The Bears and Oklahoma tied for second, while TCU, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech capped off the preseason coaches’ poll.
The men have garnered four regular-season titles, one shared (2008) and five Big 12 Championship trophies.
The 2019 season opens on Thursday, January 10. Friday, March 29, marks the start of the conference campaign for the men’s programs.
