Oklahoma Sweeps Week 1 Gymnastics Honors

January 07, 2019

Oklahoma’s Brenna Dowell, Jade Degouveia and Olivia Trautman were tabbed the first Big 12 gymnastics weekly award winners for the 2019 season.

Dowell was awarded Gymnast of the Week for the second time in her career, after competing in the all-around for the first time, putting up a score of 39.550, which ranks seventh nationally. The senior also posted a career-high on beam, in her first time competing in the event collegiately, with a 9.875.

Degouveia received Event Specialist of the Week after setting a pair of career-highs on floor (9.825) and on vault (9.95). The junior’s score on vault helped OU to the third-best team vault score in program history.

Trautman was named Newcomer of the Week for her dominant collegiate debut against Arkansas. The freshman posted a 9.9 on beam and took first place on floor with a team-best 9.950. She currently ranks first in the nation on floor.

This is the first career honor for Trautman, the second for Degouveia and eighth for Dowell.
