For the third time this season, Iowa State’s Bridget Carleton was tabbed Big 12 Player of the Week. Texas Tech guard Chrislyn Carr earned her third Freshman of the Week honor. A five-person media panel selects the weekly award honorees.
Carleton led the Cyclones to a 2-0 start in Big 12 play after averaging 29.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists in wins over K-State and Kansas. The senior shot 58.3 percent (21-of-36) from the field in the pair of victories. She netted 26 points against K-State and contributed 33 in the victory over the Jayhawks. The accolade is the ninth in her career.
Carr registered her eighth and ninth straight double-digit point performances with 19 points apiece against Oklahoma and Baylor. She averaged 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 rebounds for the week.
