Carleton and Carr Win Week 6 Awards

December 17, 2018

Iowa State’s Bridget Carleton garnered Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors for her 31-point performance against Drake, while Texas Tech’s Chrislyn Carr was tabbed Freshman of the Week after scoring 35 points in a win at Nevada.

Carleton led Iowa State with her seventh-career 30-point performance, dropping 31 against a Drake team that was ranked No. 25 in the recent USA TODAY Sports Coaches’ poll. Carleton connected on 11-of-22 (50.0%) from the floor and grabbed eight boards, dished out four assists and collected four steals. The accolade is the second for Carleton this season and the eighth in her career.

Carr tied the school record for most 3-point field goals made with nine, as she finished with 35 points in Tech’s first non-conference true road win in six years. The freshman from Davenport, Iowa, scored 20 of her points in the second half, including nine points off 3-pointers.
