Bianca St. Georges of West Virginia and Katie Glenn of Texas were named to the Senior CLASS Award All-Americans on Thursday. St. Georges was named to the first team while Glenn was named to the second team. The Big 12 is tied with ACC and Pac-12 for the most student-athletes represented on the list.
The award, chosen by a vote of Division I women’s soccer coaches, national soccer media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I women’s soccer. In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition.
St. Georges, a native of St. Felix de Valois, Quebec, is a two-time All-Big 12 First Team honoree and the 2018 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. The two-time team captain and four-year starter helped the WVU backline post 12 clean sheets and finished the season ranked No. 2 on the team with seven goals and 14 points, both single season career-best showings.
In addition to her on-field success, St. Georges shows a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 in exercise physiology. She is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and was named to the first team in 2017. A three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree, St. Georges also was named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team.
St. Georges has made visits to the WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House with her teammates. She has also assisted with the program’s efforts to raise money for breast cancer research and volunteered at WVU women’s soccer team camps and clinics.
Glenn, of Round Rock, Texas, is tied for second in the Big 12 in assists (seven), rates third on the Longhorns in total points (17) and fourth in goals (five) while having started all 20 matches and played 1,570 minutes. The senior is the first Longhorns player to be selected as a Senior CLASS Award All-American since goalkeeper Abby Smith earned a second-team nod back in 2015.
Off the field, Glenn maintains a 3.45 GPA in health promotion and behavioral science and was named a 2017 United Soccer Coaches Third-Team Scholar All-American for her efforts in the classroom. In the community, she has been involved with a myriad of projects including: “Operation School Bell,” “Orange Santa,” “Supply the Teachers,” “UT & Me National Women & Girls in Sports Day” and the “TexasTHON” to benefit the Dell Children’s Miracle Network.
