Turns out that No. 1 South Carolina didn’t get to have all the fun.

Stanford jumped to No. 2 on Wednesday when top prospect Haley Jones, a shooter, passer and winner, announced she was joining the Cardinal. Add the No. 1 prospect to a class that already included No. 16 (Ashten Prechtel), No. 23 (Fran Belibi) and No. 50 (Hannah Jump), and you would normally have a contender for the top class in the country.

But the 2019 early signing period was anything but normal.

Dawn Staley got signatures from No. 3 Aliyah Boston, No. 7 Zia Cooke, No. 10 Laeticia Amihere, No. 13 Breanna Beal and three-star guard Olivia Thompson. It is a class that could be considered among the best of all time.

Mississippi State also made a big splash by landing No. 9 Rickea Jackson and moved up from No. 19 to No. 6.

Eleven-time national champion UConn, meanwhile, could not crack the top 20. The Huskies landed a signature from Aubrey Griffin, but they were hoping to add either Jones or Boston.
