Kansas redshirt senior Jessica Washington was tabbed the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Texas’ Audrey Warren and West Virginia’s Madisen Smith shared Freshman of the Week recognition.
KU’s Washington registered her first 30-point performance of the year and the third of her career with 30 points against George Mason. She finished the week average 23.5 points and 3.0 assists while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. The weekly honor is the second in Washington’s career.
Smith became just the second WVU freshman since March 2016 to score in double figures with a season-high 13 points against No. 12 Iowa. Last week, she averaged 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists, while shooting 75 percent from the field.
Warren, a Longhorn freshman, averaged 9.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals last week and made her first two career starts at the Gulf Coast Showcase. She connected on 66.7 percent from the field and finished with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists in Texas’ victory over Michigan. Smith and Warren are first-time honorees.
