PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Florida bounced back Thursday to defeat Stanford 72-49 in a consolation bracket game in the Battle 4 Atlantis basketball tournament.

Sophomore guard Deaundrae Ballard led the Gators with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting off the bench

Senior guard KeVaughn Allen added 13 points for the Gators (3-2), who arrived in the Bahamas with an offense that hadn’t performed the way coach Mike White expected. Then they scored 60 points in a first-round loss to Oklahoma, leaving White to say confidence was an issue for his team.

Things went smoother against the Cardinal (2-3). Florida shot 52 percent, including making 7 of 15 3-pointers.

The Gators took control early as Stanford’s offense sputtered. Florida led 32-13 by the break, the fewest points allowed in a half under its fourth-year coach.

Cormac Ryan scored 12 points for Stanford, which made 5 of 23 shots with 13 turnovers in an opening half that essentially decided this one.

The Gators will play the Butler-Middle Tennessee winner at 9:30 p.m. (ESPNU) Friday for fifth place of the eight-team event. Stanford will play the loser for seventh place.

Florida took advantage of a poor first half by Stanford to build the 32-13 lead at intermission. Bryce Wills made two free throws with .04 seconds left in the half for Stanford’s first points by a starter, who were 0 for 13 from the field. Stanford also had 12 turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

Ballard led the Gators with 12 points in the opening half.

It was pretty much more of the same in the second half, when the Gators built their lead to 48-20 on a layup by Kevarrius Hayes with 14:37 remaining.

Senior guard Jalen Hudson, who didn’t make a 3-pointer in Wednesday’s 65-60 loss to Oklahoma, did not start and was replaced in the lineup by true freshman Noah Locke, who finished with 11 points.

The Gators are down to 10 healthy scholarship players with the ongoing injuries to center Gorjok Gak (knee, not cleared to play) and forwards Isaiah Stokes (knee pain) and Chase Johnson (concussion protocol).

No. 4 Virginia (5-0) will play No. 25 Wisconsin (5-0) for the tourney championship at 2 p.m. (ESPN) Friday. Dayton (4-1) will face Oklahoma (4-1) on Friday in the third-place game.
