For the third time in the past five seasons, six teams from the Big 12 will compete in the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. Baylor, Kansas, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech and West Virginia all earned berths in the postseason as announced by the NCAA.
The Big 12 has earned at least five or more bids in each of the last three seasons and four out of the last five. The six bids this year matches the second-highest in league history, with only the 2003 season (eight teams) boasting more NCAA selections. This season’s six berths are the most for the Conference since it began competition as a ten-team league in 2017.
Regular-season champions Baylor and postseason champions West Virginia both earned No. 2 seeds. This is the Mountaineers’ 19th consecutive appearance and the Bears’ sixth overall appearance.
The Longhorns make their second straight appearance as the No. 4 seed after finishing the season with a 13-4-3 record.
Kansas and Texas Tech are back in the NCAA Championship after each having a one-year hiatus, while TCU will make their third consecutive appearance.
All six teams will be hosting on their campus sites. Match dates and game times will be available at Big12Sports.com.
First-round games will be played at campus sites Nov, 9-11. Second and third rounds continue the following weekend from Nov. 16-18. The four national semifinalists will be determined in the quarterfinals on Nov. 23-34. The 37th annual NCAA Women’s College Cup will be played in Cary, North Carolina on Nov. 30 (semifinals) and Dec. 2 (championship game).
