For the second straight season, the Iowa State Cyclones won the men’s and women’s Big 12 Cross Country Championship in sweeping fashion. The men’s title was the program’s second overall after its consecutive wins. The women’s team recorded a three-peat for its seventh Conference trophy in the last eight years.
Iowa State also swept both individual championships.
In the women’s race, leading the way for the Cyclones was Cailie Logue with a first place finish (19.53.8, 6K). An ISU runner took home the individual championship for the first time since Perez Rotich completed it in 2015. Logue’s time also marked the first under-20 minute 6K race time for an individual winner since the 2014 Big 12 Cross Country Championship.
Edwin Kurgat (23:21.1, 8K) became the first men’s Big 12 individual champion to hail from ISU in the history of the event.
The top 15 finishers in each race earned All-Big 12 honors.
Big 12 Cross Country teams will head to the NCAA Regional competition in their respective regions on November 9. The NCAA Division I National Championships are slated for November 17 in Madison, Wisconsin.
