October 22, 2018

Oklahoma and Texas Tech student-athletes garnered weekly football honors for their performances during the eighth week of the season. Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, while Texas Tech’s Dakota Allen took home Defensive Player of the Week. Red Raider kicker Clayton Hatfield was tabbed the Special Teams Player of the Week, as Sooner tailback Kennedy Brooks was named Newcomer of the Week.

Murray completed 19-of-24 through the air for 213 yards and four touchdowns, while running nine times for 51 yards in Oklahoma’s 52-27 road victory at TCU. The honor is the fourth of the season for Murray.

TTU’s Allen registered a team-high seven tackles, including two tackles-for-loss in the victory over Kansas. The senior also recovered his first fumble of the season and the second in his career en route to his second career Defensive Player of the Week accolade.

Hatfield became the first Red Raider since 2011 to connect on two field goals of 40 yards or longer in Texas Tech’s 48-16 win over Kansas. The senior successfully made a 48-yarder in the first quarter and added a 47-yard field goal in the third for his first weekly award.

Brooks rushed 18 times for a career-best 168 yards and a touchdown in OU’s road victory at TCU. The redshirt freshman averaged 9.3 yards per carry in the win for his first weekly recognition.
