Kansas and West Virginia Earn Big 12 Swimming and Diving Honors

Nick Cover, David Dixon and Averly Hobbs from West Virginia along with Jenny Nusbaum from Kansas were
named the first Big 12 swimming and diving award winners of the 2018-19 season.

Dixon received Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the second time in his career, after winning five individual events (200 IM, 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 breast and 200 fly) and helping the 200, 400, 800 free and 200 and 400 medley relay teams to victories. In total, the sophomore was a part of ten total wins at the West Virginia State Games.

Nusbaum was awarded Women’s Swimmer of the Week for helping pace Kansas to victory over Missouri State and South Dakota in a double dual. The junior recorded three individual first place finishes in the 100, 200 and 500 free.

Cover earned Men’s Diver of the Week after making his collegiate debut at the West Virginia State Games last weekend. The freshman won the 1-meter with a score of 317.55 and placed third in the 3-meter with a score of 246.45.

Hobbs tabbed Women’s Diver of the Week for sweeping both boards at the West Virginia Games. The senior diver won the 1-meter with a score of 275.25 and the 3-meter with a score of 270.75.
