Q: You guys had a lot of success last week in the screen game. How vital is it to use a team’s strength against them?
A: Definitely, I feel like going into the Mississippi State game, that was one of our main goals, was to drill the outside, drill the outside and be able to stretch the perimeter. So, we executed that and, as you can see, gave us what we needed to come out of there victorious.
Q: What have you seen in LSU’s defensive backs?
A: We definitely have to be strong, be more physical and come out there and attack them. As coaches say, hit ’em in the mouth first and just be aggressive. They’re very quick, so definitely for receivers we have to work our releases and locking hips and stuff like that, but we’ve been working on it, we’re ready and we feel like we can go out there and come out victorious.
Q: Watching tape of LSU’s defense, what stands out?
A: They’re definitely quick. Their corners are very fast, but I feel like we’re more powerful, we’re stronger. We’re going to fight all four quarters, punch ’em in the mouth and I feel like be more physical than they are. That’s our goal, that’s what we’re planning on doing. And I feel like we’re definitely gonna be more physical and outwork them.
Q: How much of a difference maker can Kadarius Toney be?
A: He is one of the most explosive players in college football. He can turn a 1-yard run into a touchdown. He can do almost anything on the field. He can throw the ball, he can receive the ball, he can run it. He is one of the most explosive players in college football. I feel like he brings energy, confidence and excitement to the offense.
Q: How well do you know LSU quarterback Joe Burrow?
A: Joe’s one of my good friends from back up when I was at Ohio State. I talked to him before he even left Ohio State. Before I left Ohio State, me and him were kind of close. We talked often. I think he’s a good player. I haven’t really seen any improvement of him, but I’m not really focused on him right now. I’ll let the defense handle him. I’m more focused on the offense and what I can do and what I can bring to the table for this week.
