You guys can all see the search function on the right of the page, yes?
Please order from there if you use Amazon. Just search what you want and we get a piece of the action here to help pay the bills.
Thank you for your support!!
-
I just did, and prebought a book in fact.
-
Bought about 20 things this week, from different sellers. My wife got frustrated about all the emails, bc our account is linked to her email. I reminded her it's linked to my credit card, and we could trade if she liked.
-
Thanks gent. Keep it going.
-
sorry, I didn't purchase the 65" Samsung from Amazon.
Got a killer deal from Walmart dot com
I have purchased many other things from Amazon from the link on this site.
Including my new Husker flag that I'm embarrassed to fly at the moment

Ouch.
C'mon man. We want people to buy stuff through here!!

I assume it's white?
It won't be when Sparty comes to Lincoln on November 17th

I just bought the QLED 65 inch last night from a local store. He made me too good of a deal not to buy from him.

I think I broke the previous Amazon thread. I didn't see the search function from Firefox or Edge and posted a screen shot to document. Sorry!

Yeah, that thread is toast unless @Drew4UTk (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1) can figure out how to fix it.
"Sorry, I don't see the search function or bar on the right or anywhere."
Look on any page on the right side - you might have to scroll down a bit. You'll see a search box above this request:
Support the Site:
Please Search Amazon from here! No cost to you yet covers some of our expenses!
-
OK, I see that text box with Microsoft Edge and Firefox but only the Amazon search bar with Edge. Strange.
-
good to know an inject can mop the site like that.... weird.. .but i now have a capability to recreate it and figure it out.. so, thanks @Temp430 (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=131) !!!!
at last check i think it was in the $30 range that all y'alls support via amazon boosted us!!! that's a big help!!!
-
I just dropped 25 on amazon by using the search bar on the right. hope it helps.
-
Just bought an outdoor fire pit. Now, on to outdoor furniture and maybe a Weber Summit.
-
<br />(https://thumb.ibb.co/kejvGp/zon9_25_18.jpg) (https://ibb.co/kejvGp)<br />
amazon gonna be like "do wha?... a 90+% conversion rate?".... but insofar as i can tell we're doing nothing wrong.. I immensely appreciate y'all using that thing, as it takes the burden off hosting the site. It runs us $128/mo to host, and this + google adsense, on the current trajectory, should cover a big part of that. Google has brought in about $16 so far this month, and will likely top around $20 or so...
I like- and will continue with @847badgerfan (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=5) and @ELA (https://www.cfb51.com/index.php?action=profile;u=55) 's support/agreement, to do things this way... it doesn't cost you guys anything if you're ordering anyway, and it covers a good chunk of costs. it has potential to cover all the costs for the year if you do a lot of 'zon shopping over the holidays...
-
I assume it's white?
that actually made me laugh... well played

I'm shopping for my new 'built in grill' for the new house. getting tough to narrow down.
-

me too
-
Patio storage box and stainless prep table ordered today. Mrs. 847 put a kibosh on my Weber Summit. Said the Genesis is good enough.
I'll win that one eventually. I'll probably shoot for a green egg next. See where that goes.
-
I assume it's white?
That's just cold....but funny
-
patio grill area. I'm looking to do a built in 30s" gas grill and my BGE on the end, separated by counters. Built in trash can and then drawers for storage. Facade will be brick to match the house. If Amazon's got the stuff grill parts and inserts I buy 'em here.

I'm sure they have what you want.
-
I'm sure they have what you want.
Yah, but can you tell it's what you want from just a picture? I love to walk into Home Depot with my broken project and stand around looking helpless till some sucker, err I mean employee, offers assistance. And after they fail, call my contractor friend up and ask for help saying I wasn't able to figure it out on my own. NO WAY I can get half my projects done just looking at a pics on amazon.
-
Yep, that can be a challenge sometimes. I find what I want on the manufacturer sites and then go to Amazon to see if it's there.
-
I left out a detail. I have a sketch. I'm not buying a prefab unit/frame, nor am I doing this. My builder is building it (frame, the brick facade, 1/2 wall behind it with backsplash. He just asked me what I want the layout to look like, so I've got all the specs. on the inserts (doors) and grills.
-
Ordered a sous vide today.
-
I don't know if they do it, but if can get from EBAY would use a lot (one of a minority that rarely uses Amazon).
-
I don't know if they do it, but if can get from EBAY would use a lot (one of a minority that rarely uses Amazon).
We're eBay affiliates too!! When I get internet at the house back, I'll put a search for them on here too.
-
Excellent. Put a Wayfair link on too while yer at it, and Home Depot and Lowes. Lots of guys like to build shit here.
-
If I also hit a link (like I just did with Dania) through here, do we get credit for that too?
-
i use eBay
-
I only buy things in garage sales.

I can't find the right golf clubs at garage sales

You mean coolers don't you?

Including my new Husker flag that I'm embarrassed to fly at the moment
I'm sure 94 will loan you his Longhorn flag
-
I'm not so sure
-
You mean coolers don't you?
I have some coolers in my garage I should sell
but, the Sharkwater Party is coming up later this month
-
I need a new Longhorn flag, actually. Mine is getting old and frayed.
-
If yer gonna buy one, may as well buy four.
:72:
-
I bought my new Husker flag on Amazon
I want my money back. It doesn't appear to be very lucky.
-
Man, so many to choose from on Amazon, can't decide which?
I like just the classic burnt orange with the white Longhorn helmet logo. But then there's the vintage one with the "angry bevo" on it. And the one that looks like the state of Texas flag, but with orange and white, and the Longhorn helmet logo instead of the star.
So many choices...
-
I go with the UNL authentic block "N" likes flys on top of the stadium.
guess I picked wrong
-
Sadly... Ordered Stabil, holding tank treatment, marine TP and a dock line.
-
Why? Still at least two months of boat season ahead of us! :)
-
in a month I'll put a squirt of stabil in my Yamaha golf cart
One small bottle lasts me a decade
-
Sometime in December I'll go pull the plugs, drain the block, dump some stabil into the tank. Then I'll have the plugs back in and have her up and running by the end of Febrauary.
-
Wouldn't have these problems if you lived someplace without winter :57:
-
We are not very far away from that reality. The plan is coming together.

yup, don't forget them. Forgot about the string trimmer once, locked up. Don't own a string trimmer any longer, not needed.

Did you mount sickle's to the side of your Yamaha?

EXCELLENT

no, but I applied a couple nice old school Bud Man decals

as it turns out, you can buy property cheap here right now!!! well, property in certain zones... the "high and dry" zones are in demand.
a matter of fact, two houses that are adjacent my property, one being on the market for several months, and the other just completed both went under contract within literal hours of the insurance moratorium being lifted--- meanwhile, sound front property is likely to be the lowest this decade or maybe century...

anything on the golf course?

You've missed all my posts about not building in harm's way? The ones where I rail on the Government bailing out people who knowingly build in the path of Mother Nature's wrath? Grrr...
-
well, if you're talking about the path of Hurricanes............ that leaves more than a few square miles along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts.
-
Right, but you don't build in an area that is subject to storm surge. I've done my homework. I won't need flood insurance, that's for damn sure.
-
as much as folks will protest about this comment, hurricane's generally aren't that big a deal... one in likely 20 is... and the 'big deal' is firmly in two categories imHo, one being: people knowingly building in harms way and then crying when the inevitable happens, and two: people making a bigger deal out of something for either political or monetary gain..... there are the few in between that have legitimate complaints that both the 'wings' rely on for their existence, and those are generally due to relaxed or ignored building codes (when they 'thought' they were getting something they didn't) or not being informed about risks due to location (which is a cry to ignorance, and hardly forgivable if someone is dropping a big chunk of change on property and not performing due diligence)....
i can see the inter-coastal waterway from my driveway- it is about 1/4 mile away... yet my house is 26' above sea level, which doesn't sound like much but because the sound is tidal, the tides remove backed up water twice a day- and because of that, my property has never in recorded history flooded... this mitigates risk of rising water... falling water and wind is a concern, and why i carry wind and hail at a pretty significant expense... 'messes' are just that, and most hurricanes are no worse than severe thunderstorms... of course this last one was- as it literally sat on my area for more than 72 hours of battery on the NE quad, and spawned at least three tornado's in my 'hood (possibly four). one of those? that could happen anywhere.
all this said... and this is either humorous or alarming-
there is significant construction in my 'hood... last spring i built a workshop/garage (the one with the bar/cookpit on back of it i posted pics of) and while clearing/grading, i was amazed by the amount of seashells present just under the surface... and then, of greater interest, behind me and a little further from the sound another house was just built... while grading for it a whale's jaw bone was found first, and then a good part of the rest of it.... most would think COOL!!!, but me? I'm thinking "this friggin' place was underwater not that damn long ago........"
-
Drew,
Great work on the mobile version. First time I've used it.
Other mobile tries with message boards were brutal.
One small issue, unable to scroll far enough right to read personal messages
Thanks
-
Oh ive got a list of fixes, sir, as ive been boumd to mobile most often since the storm here... Interwebz/cable is still out... And I'll get all over them as soon as I have that back.. I dont dare do anything with hotspot on the site, as it blinks and I could easily screw some stuff up!!! But youre Right... There are some issues. Not as many as I first had, but some still glaring.
-
Hey drew-- thanks again for putting us up at your place. You're alright for an SECSECSEC sort of fellow.
-
Ahem. It's my "place" too and also ELA. We welcome more investors to the club. :)

cool, I can buy truck tires on Amazon

Samsung Sound Bar and wireless rears/sub today. Place isn't wired for surround and I'm a renter. Needed something good for sports and music. Man, I've spent a lot of money on Amazon lately.
-
I might need a new sound bar, the old one doesn't seem to fit well with the new 65" screen
-
The new sound bars with sub are "pretty good" for TV. They aren't good for say classical music, but better than TV speakers obviously.
It's a good way to up the game on a TV easily.
My main TV has a typical sound system with a typical sub, that I have turned down as far as it goes (crossover and volume) and at times it gets medieval and the wife yells at me. Movies show up as well as classical music. The wife likes old school country, oddly enough.
I'm cooking left over flat iron steak with yellow squash, onions, some wine, and something else, yeah, 'shrooms.
Hosting some friends from Cincy this weekend. He's a huge OSU fan and grad and patent attorney.
-
And every time I waltz into Costco I see those 80" QLEDZPD78@&( videos running in 4K and just stop and stare.
I told the wife we'll be living underground some day and those things will serve as windows. You want view?
-
does anyone get more than 3 channels in 4k? my neighbor got the direct tv 'upgrade' to 4k. got 3 whole new channels, and 1 is a preview movie channel. but damn, do those 1:45 seconds of a movie look good. i won't be making the upgrade until the channels catch up.
and have sound bars come down? last i looked they were still $3-500, and i just couldn't justify spending on something i won't notice much. is there a decent one ~ $100 anyone would recommend?
-
We are hoping to start testing some 4K streams to our IPTV package. Was supposed to happen this quarter but looks to be pushed back to next spring.
-
I've actually been thinking of going the opposite direction from the sound bar... Maybe actually getting a real A/V receiver, with tower speakers, and a powered sub.
-
I've been think that same thing
all it takes is many more $$$$
-

"Channels"? What are those? I'm unfamiliar with these antiquated terms :smiley_confused1:
So far I get most of my Netflix, and the few things I watch on Amazon Prime Video, in 4K. I wouldn't say it's especially world-changing relative to 1080p, as the compression is such that the bitrates aren't as high as what you see on those Costco displays. But it's an upgrade.
That's the thing whether it's cable, satellite, or streaming. They all have to manage their bitrates. The "preview" will likely be at a very high bitrate, so the quality will be stellar. But the actual broadcast will be compressed as much as they need to do based on their bandwidth limitations.
That's why I watch my local networks through the antenna rather than through Hulu... It's 1080p either way, but since the towers don't have the same bandwidth limitations as Hulu, they can leave their signal less compressed and the OTA antenna actually looks BETTER than cable/satellite/streaming.
-
Ed Zachery, we are lobbying our content provider to allow us to set our own bitrates since we are IPTV with Gig fiber to each home.
-

My new equipment should be coming today. I'll let you know how much different it is from my Yamaha/Jamo system that I can't use here.
-
i'd drop satellite and go to hulu/netflix/etc if i could. i live out in the boonies. only option for "high speed" internet option we have is sat internet. :03:
i love where i live, but this part is a major downfall.
-
New York (CNN Business)For the first time, Amazon is offering free shipping on all US holiday orders in an effort to add new Prime members and juice the season's sales numbers.
Last year, Amazon shoppers without Prime memberships had to spend at least $25 to earn free shipping, but Amazon is waiving the purchase minimum starting Monday to give "customers even more convenient and faster delivery options," the company announced.
-
please don't forget about the Amazon search to your right if you're buying from them anyway! I really appreciate the help you guys have already offered... November is shaping up to be the first month ever the google ads and the amazon function will cover the monthly costs of the site- and that's freakin' nice!!!
i appreciate it, y'all!!!
-
I like to search Amazon for something weird just to see what happens to my ad stream.
-
^yup.... they definitely keep tabs on ya, huh? the trick is to keep them from accessing other things, which may be becoming increasingly difficult as they expand.
-
I just ordered some pecans and some new running shoes. I realize those two items are somewhat in opposition to each other with respect to desired outcome.
-
your friends and family are gonna be upset, both of those are perfect Xmas gift ideas
-
I wish I could purchase large bottles of Bombay Sapphire Gin on Amazon
-
did a bit of Xmas shopping on Amazon on Black Monday
only about $100 worth
used my Discover card = 5% cash back!
-
I wish I could purchase large bottles of Bombay Sapphire Gin on Amazon
I never looked it up can Liquor be purchased on Amazon?
-
Don't think so.
-
Don't see it on Amazon, but then I'm in CA which doesn't allow DTC shipments of spirits. I found an article (https://issuu.com/artisanspiritmag/docs/artisanspirit_issue019_web/31) which states that only the below states [& D.C.] actually allow DTC for spirits:
Alaska
D.C.
Hawaii
Nebraska
Nevada
New Hampshire
North Dakota
So apparently it's mostly states which start with "N" for some reason :57:
-
Naughty but Nice.
-
I need to move to Nebraska
for a couple good reasons
-
picked up a couple things on Amazon yesterday
every little bit helps
-
I used to buy wine on line fairly often. It worked pretty well in Ohio which had ridiculous wine prices in retail.
Not much reason to do it down here. Wine pricing here is half to 2/3rds what it was in Ohio.
-
just did a little Xmas shopping on Amazon
new hard case golf bag for airline traveling or shipsticks
free shipping!
-
Dumb question: is there a way to find out if your purchase got a little bit to go here?
-
i appreciate the help, y'all... a lot. i'm crossing my fingers this place becomes self sufficient this year (being year three).
i don't think you can find out as a consumer about the amount kicked back by going to amazon by using the links here.. i can see the number of clicks on the amazon central page, and i can see how many resulted in purchases by percentage of 'clicks'. i can even see what was purchased, though it's an ass pain to get to that section- a section which exists in essence so web guys like me can see what it's travelers are interested in and perhaps advertise those in particular if a trend develops...
it's so across the board- the 'income', that i don't even know how to determine what 'percentage' of sales we get in kick back.. i think it varies by product. i'd wager it's somewhere in the 10th of a point to 2 points max, but that is just a SWAG.
i appreciate every cent... other than the hours in this joint (which i don't mind), we gotta make $3500/yr to hold it together (cost of server, NOT a shared environment and 100% responsible for our stellar 'up time').
-
Now I am getting a header to go to "Amazon Smile" instead, which donates money to the Semper Fi Fund in my case. I just started that. I presume the option is for them to get the funds instead of here, I will stay with here.
The wife has her "smiles" go to St. Judes, which I think is a good organization.
I try and click on Amazon daily, even if I'm not buying something. I just bought two baseballs in a plastic case for autographs, and then I dreamt last night that they came with a large corporate logo on them and I was on the phone trying to get that fixed, while I was asleep, on the phone. Bummer.
-
that's a bad dream, cincy.
i don't think it interferes with 'other' charity's... or, i hope it doesn't.
-
I think it's an "either-or" proposition. If I click on the Smiles tab, the donation goes to my charity I designated, which I did the other day. I've never seen this option crop up previously.
-
gotcha...
the part about percentages is a mystery to me... as a for instance, let's say you clicked on an ad here or searched from here but didn't purchase anything... for two weeks it resides in your cookies- and if you go back the site gets a kicker.... less of a kicker, but one all the same..
but what if you did that, but on another site clicked an ad and went to amazon while the cookie from here was still valid? as i understand it, both this site and the one you also used would get kickers- not in equal parts, as the most recent would get the larger... but both still benefit.
i'm at a loss to understand it, and they change it all the time.
what i can say is this place is bereft adverts as other sites run- nothing intrusive and everything easily blockable (no sneaky ads). i had google ads on here for a while, but you give those guys an inch they try to take it ALL... so... the boot they got. i'm hoping others recognize this and migrate here because of that practice. ultimately.. maybe.. possibly... hopefully.
-
I've taught the wife and some of my family and friends to shop through here.
-
I donate to the SFF separately, so I can stick with it for here.
-
Much appreciated.

My usual Purdue site (Hammer & Rails) now has autoplay video ads, WITH audio turned on. That's no issue on desktop, but on my cell it means I can't read the site any more.
-
I forgot about this. We should sticky this on page 1. I buy a lot for the business on Amazon. I’ll make sure I’m coming through here in the future.
-
I purchase for my business through this site
-
another $150 order
hope ya get at least a buck fifty
-
Keep it coming guys. Thanks.
-
a $425 order this morning
-
another $78 this afternoon
-
We did about 1400 miles on our recent trip and I noticed a notable number of Amazon trailers on the roads. I don't know if these are merely ads, or Amazon owned, but if the latter it could be a significant change in trucking.
Autonomous trucks will eventually mangle that business.
-
another $500+

another $500+
Golf balls?
-
I just ordered a $600 camera lens. Tamron makes an 18-400 mm lens I HOPE will replace both my current lenses on my Nikon DSLR for travel.
I can't believe they can span 18 mm to 400 mm in one lens, of course there are some sacrifices at that price.
-
Golf balls?
I placed an order for a case of personalized Titleist AVX balls. 4 boxes of 12 - $132
equals $2.75 per ball
Personalization = FEARLESS
through a Titleist sales rep - couldn't get the deal on Amazon
hopefully, I won't need more than that this season
-
I own some Amazon stock and am wondering if they will do even better with this virus thing scaring folks. Everything here seems normal, I was out and about yesterday with step daughter and dropped her off at the airport. The only folks I see wearing masks are Asians and that isn't unusual for them when traveling.
There is a report of 2 people isolated in the ATL confirmed.
-
another $166
-
Did the price on personalized Titlists go up?
-
Amazon went from $1953 closing price on March 2 to $2407 closing price today. I did not buy more on my hunch. Still have the same amount.

That seems like five years ago, to me. Wow.

I bought more in early April
-
I also bought more, in March. No inside knowledge.
-
I don't even know what all I bought/shifted from other stocks. I trust my investor. He's my cousin's kid.
I remember him saying Amazon.
Others were medical and internet related.
-
I did not shift that much throughout this affair. I sold down some of the wife's port because I run her's pretty risk averse. I bought some back a couple of weeks back. I'm still thinking of selling some off now though.
I went pretty heavy to cash in August, meaning like 35% or so, while my "model" is 25% or so. That number of course went up. I'm back to about par now. Apple and COSTCO have "saved me" to an extent.
I had some Crackerbarrel and bought a bit more when it really bottomed. I think they will be back sooner.
I'm net down on them of course.
I don't think the economy is going to V shape, I'm seeing a long slow slog, especially in hospitality and travel.
-
I'm not seeing the Amazon link....
-
Nor am I.
-
More power to any of you who invested in them in late March / early April.... I've only seen their HQ2 in Arlington / Alexandria from the highway, but I know it's under construction and they've already had a temporary office there. The unfortunate irony is that commercial real estate as a whole is going to collapse in the aftermath of COVID, but all the local residents who sold their homes by February certainly did well for themselves....
-
The link is back on. Drew said it was an Amazon problem, not us.
I'm glad to have bought a house in February. Glad to have bought some Amazon too.
-
I also bought more, in March. No inside knowledge.
Sure Mr Finestein
-
A lot of folks see a faster shift to on line ordering of stuff because of this S going on ....
And video conferencing, working from home, traveling less, virtual conventions, etc.
The long term impact to the hospitality industry may be enormous.
-
got it
only $22
-
just placed a huge order
over $30!
-
I sold most of the wife's stocks in her IRA. She is more risk averse, or rather, I can tolerate risk because I put a portion of my IRA in a "long term" pot. Whether it does down or not, I expect it can recover in ten years plus.

Roush Mustangs are cool!
I had a student several years ago with the surname of Roush. I asked if she were related to the Mustang Roush and she said she was.

Have fun!
