Well wait no longer he did it this year and it looks like he can't recruit any better than he coaches.then you have to strip away his first year recruits that were for the most part players signed just to get bodies, then you have his second class who got one year before the world fell apart and his third class which had essentially no preseason conditioning and practice.
snip:
PRUITT NEEDS TIME TO GET HIS OWN PLAYERS.
This is a frequent defense of the Pro-Pruitt faction that would like to see him get more time as Tennessee’s Head Football Coach. I looked at the latest depth chart released by the UTAD prior to the Texas A&M game. I think the results refute the above argument.

I think the above proves that what we’ve just witnessed IS Pruitt’s program and another recruiting class is unlikely to improve it significantly.

While I think he is not ready to prime time due to all the factors I can not judge him yet. I can say I think next year by mid season is make or break.
Some good points here.He recruited and signed most of his class during the break.
But, that first class that just gathered bodies was HIS FAULT. He insisted on continuing to work for Bama for an additional month to 45 days to gather another ring for his finger, when he should have been working for UT on the recruiting trail. He gets no pass from me on the pieced together first class. He owns that, along with his ring from Bama.
funny, as soon as JG was benched the allegations of violations came out, and JG bounced.I like a lot of the young talent but they need a good season in the weight room and a good Spring Practice.
I'm suggesting it once more- there was some sort of agreement between JG and Butch the school couldn't get out of... and now they have. and now they have violations to contend with.
JG was the problem with that team, period. NOT the kid- as by all accounts he's a good kid... but the skill level he couldn't produce or did so sporadically... even the backs and receivers are tainted by his lack of skill evidenced in routes with Bailey or Strout (who is gone now too) at the helm... they'd slow down or almost stop when the ball was slung their way- accustomed to JG targeting them.
for four seasons straight UT was hampered by negative asset at the QB position. Don't tell me any other coach at any other tier would not have gave JG the bench long long ago... there was something there keeping him there- there had to be. meanwhile, universities across the nation, some of which are just emerging (such as coastal carolina) somehow found functional QB's... some of them found good QB's... meanwhile, the QB position at UT was the anchor and the chains that kept them from producing.
Everybody wants Pruitt's head on a platter- and i don't know why... that is one ugly fixture... however, i don't fault him completely- other than keeping JG playing, and I figure there is something to that we'll likely never know... I want to see what he can do next season. I don't think he is the goat he's being accused of being, yet i don't think he's anywhere near the GOAT either. If he can retain Gray... if he can retain Smalls... if he can retain the majority of the secondary... if he can replace Weinke... and.... I'm not sold on Chaney- he plays FAR too safe (but that may have been a JG adjustment too)... I think they'll be just fine next season.... and the season following I think they can truly compete for the championship again or at least be in the mix.
He recruited and signed most of his class during the break. He signed on to do a job at Bama and he saw the year though. I have no problems with that or anyone doing that.
There was limited time to recruit, evaluate, etc. The reports from all was he when not at practice recruited nonstop. Still the length of time which was short vs a year or two building a relationship is a lot, Essentially they were recruiting and picking though left overs and those that they could flip.
He signed on to do a job at Bama and he saw the year though. I have no problems with that or anyone doing that.
We knew this problem before he was hired a very short time left before the ESP.
Not trying to excuse him, just when you look at all the factors involved, event though it upsets me, I can not in good conscious judge him on that class.
This is as big of a turn around that Majors faced, the cupboard was that bare and the culture sucked.
I do think we need a new QB coach, Neids needs to go back to TE's, we need a LB coach, maybe a new S&C coach, the DL and OL coaches need to be good hires as well.
This is the problem I have with the "critics". They can't enjoy a great win and are only happy when there's something to complain about.
Our basketball team just blew out the #12 team in the country on the road.
The largest victory margin on the road against a top 20 team in school history
The # 1 tight end in this years freshmen class entered the transfer portal and says he wants to come play with his high school teammate ( Bailey).........and all we hear this morning is bitching and moaning.
Give it a rest for a day and enjoy the win.
JMPO
He signed on to do a job at Bama and he saw the year though. I have no problems with that or anyone doing that.
I remember Cutcliffe signing on the be our offensive coordinator as well. He bailed after the last regular season game, before the National Championship game, and Randy Sanders called the first game of his career on the biggest stage. Fortunately, we still won.
Two different people, two different set of circumstances, two different time frames, etc.
The basketball team and it's success is great!Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy the moment?
But, basketball ain't football. Big time basketball has 20,000 seat arenas, and big time football has 100,000 seat cathedrals. Not the same.
Football always drives the bus.
Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy the moment?Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy the moment? Sure, feel free. Start a thread. Whatever.
Great win...not a peep on this board but we do get the same old complaints we've heard dozens of times about the football program.
FYI....we will not hear anything about Pruitt until the internal investigation is complete.
If he was guilty of committing violations he'll be gone. If he wasn't, he'll get one more year .UT simply cannot afford to rid themselves of another coach without cause in a year we're suffering massive financial losses.
In the mean time the constant bitching and moaning about how terrible Pruitt is will only accomplish one thing....keeping potential recruits and transfers away.
Cool. That was more a apples to apples than your let me see what I can nitpick. Everyone gets it you feel about Pruitt like the left does Trump.
I'm glad we don't have to talk about Majors taking a decade to bring the program back to prominence, as an excuse to give Pruitt more time.
Two different people, two different set of circumstances, two different time frames, etc.
That was more a apples to apples than your let me see what I can nitpick. Everyone gets it you feel about Pruitt like the left does Trump.Majors was a favorite son and to use a current phrase...he had a lot of equity with the fans.
Pruitt inherited as bad as a situation as Majors did. The only major difference I know of is, I don't think Pruitt is living in a bottle.

He was given more time at UT to rebuild than any coach before or since. Not a complaint or excuse ...just fact.
He isn't living near an English composition book, neither.Oh good grief....Dan didn't say anything even close to being an analogy between Dan and Obama and Pruitt.
And we get that you feel about Pruitt like the Left does about Obama.
He was a Tennessee man, a favorite son, and a National Championship winning coach.Fulmer was a favorite son, a national champion winning coach and had a better record than Majors and that didn't prevent the idiots from running him off .Where was his equity?
I believe he deserved much more equity. We agree.
Oh good grief....Dan didn't say anything even close to being an analogy between Dan and Obama and Pruitt.
You made a similar accusation about me earlier saying I was a closet liberal or something similar.
It's not envy or support for Pruitt to simply state facts.
I have my problems with Pruitt just as Dan does but that doesn't prevent either of us from stating facts and facing reality.
Fulmer was a favorite son, a national champion winning coach and had a better record than Majors and that didn't prevent the idiots from running him off .Where was his equity?
That is one reason I'm very reluctant to join the "Fire the Coach Club" every three years.
Those people destroyed UT football and it's never recovered.
He was here 15 years. A far cry from being run off after 3 years. More hyperbole. You are channeling Gym today.
I'd agree that he did deserve a little more equity, however. I think he was fired a bit prematurely, and certainly there was no plan in place for a suitable replacement. Malpractice!
Ok then, those that support Pruitt please provide an actual reason to keep him, not that "he deserves a chance" feelings based argument. Show your proof that he deserves to be the head coach. There's plenty of proof to show the opposite. My point is...no matter what you want or I want...UT cannot afford to fire Pruitt this year without cause. Besides...who cares what I think about Pruitt good or bad. I'm not a coach or expert and I doubt anyone on this board is.

When presented with an actual challenge you turn into a wimpy leftist.
Bitching and moaning constantly does nothing but harm the program short term and long term.
If you're a fan...enjoy the basketball success and let the rest take care of itself.
My last post on this subject.....Happy New Year all!
If you don't care to have an actual discussion, then politely butt out. When presented with an actual challenge you turn into a wimpy leftist. The very reason I'm reluctant to discuss UT football. You're not looking for a rational discussion, you're just looking for someone to bitch at and call names. You have no answers, just complaints.
Pruitt is my coach until he isn't.
He still is and I support him. (100%)
PS.....you don't coach on national championship staffs if you haven't a clue.
Pruitt is my coach until he isn't.Be careful Phantom....those words can make you a "wimpy leftist"...lol

Could be posited as:I agree...you're making an absurd analogy
Biden is my president until he isn’t.
I support him 100%.
Absurd right?

Hey I got a twofer in my poke for shits and grins. 😈
He isn't channeling me he speaks for himself and how most UT fans feel including many big donors.
Hey I got a twofer in my poke for shits and grins. 😈
For a man who supposedly believes in God you seem to be worshiping at the feet of an idol, the HC of Tennessee. You really need to pull your head out of that place that you think does not stink on you, sunshine. 😈
You really need to pull your head out of that place that you think does not stink on you, sunshine. 😈
Nothing, I have said is worship but looking at part of the issues from a few facts you and some others want to avoid, just like road and Drew have. None of us has said he is the answer, but there are things that have been outside of is control and we need to give him a fair look.
But if you want to continue with the personal attacks because your upset I poked some fun at JG at your expense go ahead.
I'll leave you this to argue with
Nope. For all of your postering, name calling and anger issues.. you've yet to explain how UT will come up with the expected $50 million it will take to buy out Pruitt and pay for an established coach when facing a nearly $50 million loss this year.
blind support is stupid.
point made.
Besides, you have already conceded that you aren’t a football coach and that your opinion has no value.
I’ll take you at your word.
He recruited and signed most of his class during the break. He signed on to coach TN and waited 45 days to do so ...... if you think recruiting out of Tuscaloosa with Saban over your shoulder is the same as being in Knoxville fully devoted to your employer then I don’t know what to tell you . And the relationship thing doesn’t fly either .... each coach at ALA probably signs 6-10 kids out of the 100s they recruit. He was at ALA for what 2 years ?? No reason Fulmer shouldn’t have demanded he start earning his paycheck immediately.

It's bad enough you have to lie about my blind support of Pruitt when I've repeatedly said I'm not convinced Pruitt is the answer but you've yet to give anything close to a legitimate resolution to UT's problem .
Since you know all the answers you should know theres no UT donors willing to give anything close to $50 million. You seem to be the most vocal ..how much are you giving to buy out Pruitt and Fulmer? How much are you giving to hire a name coach and AD?
Come on coach ...or is it money bags?
Wheres your checkbook?

I didn't post a meme. I posted a fence post for you to argue with.
Back at you with the memes.
He signed on to coach TN and waited 45 days to do so ......
He agreed to be Head Coach with that understanding

Most of whom had already found a home and wanted no part of the Shit show Tn. had become with all the hiring's, firings, coaching search fiasco, etc
He was at ALA for what 2 years ?? No reason Fulmer shouldn’t have demanded he start earning his paycheck immediately.
Now you are grasping at straws.
Bottom line you and others are looking to fight and try to beat people into submission to your views. Not going to happen.
Meanwhile while FB sorts it self out enjoy the basketball team, it could be very special this year.
Have a Happy and Safe New Year
“Besides...who cares what I think about Pruitt good or bad. I'm not a coach or expert” — roadvolAnd we can assume you're not either. Judging from some of your misleading statements and lack of knowledge about UT the only thing you know about UT is how to bitch and complain.

Unfortunately UT has an abundance of people like you . They don't take the time to find out what's going on but spend their time listening to talk shows that make their money putting idiots on the radio that are always angry and uninformed.
Misery likes company so I'm sure you'll find someone that will take you serious.
Happy New Year.
