I keep waking up at 5 am like some sort of old man, so might as well roll out the thread. We have three B1G games tonight, and three tomorrow, so might as well start early. Busy time for me, closing on a home equity loan for my kitchen and then meeting with the kitchen guy today. No real clue how that will go. The better news is the family is going to California with my wife's parents tomorrow, leaving me with four glorious days of watching football without anyone bothering me.
Anyways, the schedule:

PSA: Here's a good website to keep track of games, times, channels, etc.
Despite the website name, there is no particular focus on LSU; it's a useful and usable guide for anyone.

Guess I'll miss Purdue's lone win* of the season since they made it on a work day where I'll be in training and then traveling home.
(* at least I hope we eek this one out.)

Just think, if Rutger hadn't joined the B1G, we couldn't watch Thursday evening Rutger B1G football.

Time to watch the "what if" 1990 National Championship game of GA Tech vs CU.
-
Season 18 here at the New Brickhouse is under way on Peacock.
Our seats are nice for watching the game, but we're looking right into the sun for early season night games. Add in the fact that there isn't a breath of breeze here, and is a trifle warm.
-
27-7 Minute Men
Evidently, UMass has gone 7-53 in the last 5 seasons. Even they are prolly bitching Rutgers isn't helping their strength of schedule. Big Jim Delaney actually got paid for bringing this program aboard??? SMDH. Rutgers was a 29.5 point favorite.
-
NG, Rutgers, NG.
-
Didn't realize UMass' coach worked at Rutgers.
That ruled.
-
Stream it on the plane.
Nope.
If Purdue wins--as expected--I'll consider it largely a waste of paying for in-flight internet for a bodybag game.
If Purdue loses--unexpected but always possible--I'll be dealing with double shame of paying for in-flight internet just to watch my team lose to an inferior opponent...
Lose-lose.
-
I assume that even the five in five will be challenged by someone who played 5 years, can't make it in the NFL, and is now denied a chance to make money playing more college football. but assuming the NCAA is allowed to make eligibility rules going forward, the loss of the transfer redshirt year is ruining the sport far more than NIL.
-
I’m still not used to watching these games and every time they discuss a single player, they referred to him as the “transfer from From…”. And often they mentioned one or two other schools that the player played for.
-
Yeah, I'm surprised they're still mentioning that. We get it. Everyone is from somewhere else. Cool. Let's live in the present, shall we?
-
Damn, Rutgers made the Minutemen look good.

They need to be kicked out. Enough is enough.
-
tOSU shops for talent in NJ so maybe keep them around so the folks can see junior when the Buckeyes are in Town 😎
-
UW also shops there a lot. The UW running back connection to NJ alone is stunning.
-
MSU oddly rarely goes into NJ. Cam Chambers I believe was from there. High 4* WR recruit we beat Penn State for, who never really panned out. Looks like he peaked with 19 receptions for 264 yards in 2018. Only had 5 receptions in his career otherwise.
He actually tried to attend law school while playing his 5th year, but decided to instead give up football.
-
Not worth its own thread, but not loving the matchup tonight.
FPI ranks Toledo as the best team in the MAC. The 5 teams directly above them are Boston College, Fresno State, James Madison, North Dakota State and NC State. Lose to one of those teams, whatever, lose to Toledo, and, well...
I think MSU pulls it out, but it's not going to be pleasant. I'll say 28-23
-
UW started a pipeline to NJ when Barry brought in Bernie Wyatt (RIP) from Iowa. Hayden was really pissed about that one.
Barry is on record as telling Pat Richter that he would not take the Wisconsin job without Bernie, and he needed to open the checkbook for him - and he did. At Barry's presser, Bernie was there and didn't even know he was working for Barry - he was there as a friend. True story.
Wyatt was from Amityville, NY.

I am pulling for Michigan State for a variety of reasons. First off I like Fitzgerald and I think he’s a damn fine coach. Secondly, my youngest daughter graduated from MSU and is now a gainfully employed biomedical engineer. Lastly, all of my neighbors in my Michigan Cabin Home, our MSU fans and I love it.

Purdue up 37-6 after 3 quarters. I think I can breathe easy now?
-
watching Sparty - @ the half 19-7
I think they can breath easy too
a TD would be nice

I always love imagining Dayne in high school.
-
Well, this was predictable
-
The other thing about the 2013-15 run is how healthy we were in 2013 and 2014. We had injuries in 2015, but that team was sort of fluky. 13 and 14 were as healthy as you could be, but the depth was never tested
Now 3 of our 4 captains are out for the game with injuries, and it shows MSU will never have depth
-
Well I just looked up the score and see they went ahead just now according to CBS :cheer:

Yeah, he looked way faster than he should've been there. Also, the RB on the other team looked good (22).
What's with the announcer talking during the play?? That's odd.

If Lincoln Riley has a defense, that could be scary.

Gary Patterson doesn't suck

Keep in mind that the Fresnos of the world are not what they once were.
They are simply farm teams now, for the big money teams.
I wouldn't put too much stock into that win.

Nebraska putting a lengthy drive together to go up 14-13 over Ohio in the 2nd.
Otherwise, the Huskers have looked pretty underwhelming: dropped passes, OL consistently giving up pressure, untimely 3rd down penalties against the defense.

fOregon!
Off to a good start.

No clue how good Marshall is, but Penn State looks VERY sharp

Watched a fair amount of Ohio at N game. Some good things, no turnovers. Took awhile to get rolling. Too many flags. Some defensive miscommunication. Back door cover. Heat looked brutal in Lincoln today.

Brutally hot day in Bloomington today. Lots of things to work on on both sides of the ball.

That will be a Bottom Ten highlight!

So far things are mostly as expected except:
- Oregon does not look worthy of their #2 ranking.*
- Rutgers does not look worthy of their B1G membership.
* I wouldn't read too much into this just yet. It could just be an off day for the Ducks or perhaps Boise is a lot better than expected.

Great finish in Atlanta with Auburn stopping Baylor’s 2pt try that would’ve given them the lead with 0:09 left. Auburn escapes with a 17-16 win.

Can Western pull this off? Are they any good these days?
-
Michigan in for a loooooong season.
Absolutely wild that it’s 2026 and no matter who they have hired since Lloyd Carr left in 2007 they cannot find a coach who can develop a fucking modern passing game. Even with 5* all everything QB recruits. Absolutely fucking wild man.

Last year the SEC had no problem outright firing an entire reffing crew after a number of unexplainable decisions in the Auburn-Georgia game.
I don’t see why the Big Ten can’t summon this reffing crew and ask them what exactly they saw when, after review, they put a second back on a clearly expired clock:

Michigan Stadium and the yellow uniforms subliminally influenced the replay referee to make a Banana Ball decision, because irrationality is entertaining.
Michigan football should review the replay, forfeit the first game, take the deserved consequence, a loss, which is all they earned, but not forfeit the season. There should be honor among human beings.
Our society has dispatched honor from the nation's vocabulary.

If the Big Ten replay referee has its own video replay, it should be released. Was there a single official on the field that ruled the game to not be over on the field? If there is doubt, doesn't the decision go with the call on the field, or has that changed, too?
Oops, I just answered my question. Cooper Dejean's Iowa punt return TD against Minnesota a few years ago is another example of replay referees making things up as they go to overturn reality as determined on the field of play, and rewrite the outcome.
-
The Hawkeyes had more yards passing (218) than in any game in the 2025 season. The rushing game included 289 yards. The Iowa offensive line looked better today than the Joe Moore award winners of last year.
It's too early to conclude Iowa will compete for a Big Ten Championship, but as between Iowa, Oregon, and Michigan, I am thinking Iowa has the advantage considering the results of Game 1. That said, Ohio State, Indiana, and USC are in the mix, as well, and the only one eliminated so far is Rutgers.

I have seen Iowa blow out teams before but I have not seen them dominate a first half like that in a long, long time. Both on offense and defense. NIU did not have a single first down in the first half.
Yet the whole time I kept thinking, man NIU must be really, really bad because Iowa does not actually "look" that good to me. Time will tell I guess.

Michigan’s OL play was bad. Like Rich Rod first year bad. Don’t see how they fix it in one season… The pre-season hype about the OL is a great example of how all that pre-season stuff is cow flop.

Real chance Bryce Underwood just gets benched this season. He's a mess throwing the ball, and if they can't make up for it running the ball, not sure what he gives you.

Not sure I’d lay the difficulties on offense at Underwood’s feet. If I had too I would mostly put it on the OL.

Looked like Texas o-line troubles through the first half of last year.

Feels like the hyper talented quarterbacks have had a harder go of it of late. And weirdly, playing early or waiting doesn’t seems to be that much of an indicator.

What LSU did to Clemson is unsettling.
Clemson should fire their OC. Yes, after 1 game. Every 3rd and short was a dive play.
Their OL is a dumpster fire.
Dabo is playing with scratch-n-sniff stickers while everyone else is at a 4-D movie.
I know they had a FR QB playing @ LSU, but no one else on offense played any better than he did.
Idk if it's a case of LSU is REEEALLY good or Clemson is REEEALLY bad (both, I know), but hot damn.

Probaby has to do with the money. What incentive is there to actually work and grind to the top to make it to the NFL when you’re 17 years old coming out of HS now with a $12 million in the bank. Underwood started the season at Michigan last year at 17 and already had a $12 million contract. NIL is ruining the game completely on every level.

Yes- except the clock they are showing is not the one anyone else can see.
This.
You can't tell us all the clocks are synched before the game, then show some random-ass clock that doesn't match the others in trying to cover this up.
It's a clear case of 'big important program gets a mulligan' plain and simple. The idea that UM would lose to WMU broke the referees brain into a blip in the matrix.

it wasn't the referees, it was the league office

Feels like the hyper talented athletes quarterbacks have had a harder go of it of late. And weirdly, playing early or waiting doesn’t seems to be that much of an indicator.
FIFY
These uber-athletes struggle because they're not actually good QBs. They're the best athlete on the field in HS and can just video-game themselves into 4-5 stars.
They even fight against learning to become a real QB, complaining that they can just out-athlete everyone into college. You don't even have to look at Underwood for this, you can look at someone getting really positive publicity - Alabama's QB. He had something like 330 total yards in a blowout win. Cool. If you watched the game, he routinely held onto the ball, rarely throwing it on-time. He just scrambled around a lot. That's useful, sure, but if that's your #1 attribute, you're not a good QB. You can do it against Directional Tech, but when you play a big-boy team, you're fucked.
Everyone wants to be Vince Young, and they're not. I'd argue it's not a good plan to try to be Vince Young. As great as he was, his best attribute was scrambling.
A better goal is becoming a quality QB who throws the ball on time, immediately at your 3 or 5-step drop.
-
Wait, we're talking football now?
Geez......see you in January, I guess.
or maybe in the Grumpy and movie threads

they stole it in plain view. idk what can be done but something should be done. it’s 5th down only worse since it was on purpose. i’m gobsmacked and wholly reject this idea that there’s some secret clock. go **** yourself liars.
-
Probaby has to do with the money. What incentive is there to actually work and grind to the top to make it to the NFL when you’re 17 years old coming out of HS now with a $12 million in the bank. Underwood started the season at Michigan last year at 17 and already had a $12 million contract. NIL is ruining the game completely on every level.
I bet you wish he was at LSU now.
I also bet LSU is thinking they dodged a bullet on that one.
-
All kidding aside, announcers need to only mention players who signed out of HS with the team they're currently on.
They need to stop telling us where they transferred from. That's the default now, we get it.
-
I bet you wish he was at LSU now.
I also bet LSU is thinking they dodged a bullet on that one.
I’m not ready to give up on him yet. The kid is still 18 and won’t be 19 for another month I think. Let’s pump the brakes on throwing in the towel on him. The honest to gods truth is he shouldn’t have started last year- Mikey Keane was suppose to be the guy and got hurt. Bryce should’ve been sprinkled in or redshirted but Michigan did not have that luxury. If Bryce doesn’t get better as the season goes on then we have a problem- but not giving up on him yet- he’s way too talented.
Michigan OL was the biggest head scratcher for me last night. For all the hype of Whittingham bringing in Hardy from Utah- one of the best OL coaches supposedly- to all the talk about all the young talent they have on OL…didn’t see jackshit vs a powderpuff MAC team. They couldn’t get anything going on the ground and the pass protection was piss poor. This was against a fucking MAC team.
Now imagine that OL vs the talent of an Oklahoma front 7 with Veneables scheming things up. LOL.
-
Yeah….will not be pretty. Oklahoma is going to absolutely jail sex Michigan in their own stadium. What a joke.
Well that will pair well with "Mr. Brightside"

This is an absolute, sort of started when they back up the Brinks trucks to set up Coaches for life - instead of pay for production. Kind of like the working class has to endure

Is anyone else remembering that before the first attempted Hail Mary there was eight seconds on the game clock and the officials asked for another second to be added? They changed it to 9.

Yes, that too.
-

Not sure I heard that did you? If so then perhaps that presents a different scope. Just weird with today's technology the officials time can't be sychronized with that of the scoreboards. What it costs anymore to get into these games that's the least of the amenities that should be standard.
Not sure if anyone else posted this or what to make of it just a minute 6 seconds

Badgers fought better than I expected. I think Notre Dame is pretty talented and that shone through. UW caught the wrong end of some weird calls and had some shitty game management moments.
Still, if they can be the team from the first half most of the time and play mildly cleaner, they can deliver a decent season. Can this staff get them to do that? Guess we'll see.

Sorry for the rehash, but for those of us who didn't watch the Michigan game, what is the Big Ten claiming, exactly?
The clock visible on TV is supposed to be synced with the stadium clock, right? The stadium clock is the official clock, I thought? Are they saying the stadium clock isn't official? That there's some official, third clock that nobody can see? The whole thing sounds weird, but I'm not sure exactly what happened or what's now being claimed.
-
We know exactly what happened. Everyone knows.
-
I saw on claim the clock goes to zero even if fractions are left. I saw another that claimed the clock SHOULD stop as soon as the ball passes the end zone line, and didn't.
So they added a second back, stoppage time.
It LOOKS bad either way, I don't know the rule.
-
Michigan is just on an epic run.....from CheeseBurgerGate with Jeem, to Signgate with Stallions, to OnlyFansGate/BangStaffGate with Sherrone to CoverUpStaffBangGate with AD Warde Manuel, to this shit show vs WMU and ClockGate....insane....crazy work as the kids say.

I figure it's just a sign Michigan might simply not be very good, akin to that ASU losing team back when that was infamous.
That is probably the thing most lost in all of this. Even if Michigan had won the game on their first attempt at a Hail Mary, the fact that they needed a Hail Mary against Directional Michigan is concerning to say the least.
That said, this was game #1 with a new coach so growing pains are expected and frankly I don't like the set-up for the Wolverines. It is game #1 with a new coach, new system, lots of new players and while WMU is a MAC school they are a pretty good MAC school. They *COULD* recover. We'll see.
-
We know exactly what happened. Everyone knows.
I'm not saying I don't know what happened. I'm saying I don't know what the Big Ten is claiming. I've seen that they are trying to gaslight everyone, but I don't know what it is that they're offering as an "explanation."

There's a super-secret clock that only officials are allowed to see.
-
At the end of the day, every single Hail Mary pass is a very low percentage play. I’d venture to guess that maybe a 1% success rate would be generous.
I watched it live, and I don’t recall seeing many replays, but the WM players were behind the Michigan players, it landed right on the goal line. It was always a low percentage play, and I felt it was poorly defended. I almost sorta believe that the first Hail Mary going too deep setup the 2nd Hail Mary perfectly due to the fact that a lot of the WMU guys were behind the receiver.
Also, how many times do we see a Hail Mary where they just rush the QB on the final play and sack him before he can get a throw off, or put him under enough duress where the pass doesn’t even get close to the end zone. It usually takes a good 3-5 seconds for the WR to even get downfield in the first place, so odds are even that you can sack him behind the LOS anyways.

Big Ten explains controversial time added to Michigan vs. WMU finish (https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/university-michigan/wolverines/2026/09/06/big-ten-explains-controversial-michigan-game-finish-extra-second/91641681007/)
"Following video review, it was determined Western Michigan’s #18 started his jump from an established out-of-bounds position (left foot) and made contact with the ball with one second remaining on the clock. As shown in the provided video of what was viewed during the replay process, a side-by-side view of the play and the game clock, using a direct shot of the game clock in the stadium, was used to determine the final ruling.
-
There's a super-secret clock that only officials are allowed to see.
That is shockingly transparent for a supposedly genuine gaslighting attempt.
I can say that in several crazy endings with the Mad Hatter and his infamous clock-management (sometimes undeservedly criticized), a super-secret clock that only officials can see never came up.
-
Also, it makes no sense for there to be an officials-only clock. Every team--particularly the coach and the QBs--have to manage their decisions and plays by a clock. It would be monumentally unfair and absurd for that clock not to be the official clock. There's no way to do your job correctly if all you have is a fake, doesn't-actually-matter clock to look at.
This isn't even a good lie.
-
Nobody seriously is claiming there is any hidden clock.
-
Football doesn't have fractions of a second, just seconds. So even if the clocks got out of sync over the course of the game, they would have been put back in sync the play before, when the refs asked for 9 seconds on the clock instead of 8.
Then they somehow fell back out of sync while counting down from 9 to 0? Come on.

That isn't my read at all. They claim the clock operator failed to stop the clock when he should have. The refs overturned it on review, which is not without precedent.
I don't read a whole lot into this either way. One second is such a short time no doubt the clock operator stops it too late throughout much of the game, a second here and there that rarely matters. Maybe he pulls the trigger too soon at times. I don't know who operates the clock in CFB, maybe a "referee" up in the booth.

ARTICLE 4.
a. Game Clock. Playing time shall be kept with a game clock that may be
either a stopwatch operated by the line judge, back judge, field judge or side
judge, or a game clock operated by an assistant under the direction of the
appropriate judge. The type of game clock and the location of the game clock
operator shall be determined by the game management. The game clock
operator may be located on the sideline or in the traditional press box area.
If the clock operator is in the traditional press box, it is recommended the
location is between the goal lines. This location shall be shielded from public
interference and shall afford a direct and unobstructed view of the playing

Right. And multiple videos show the stadium and TV clocks hitting zero prior to the defender who stepped out of bounds touching the ball, which is their contention. If the clocks we can see are at zero prior to the defender touching the ball, there has to be another clock. Ergo, a super secret clock the rest of us can't see.
This is either:
1) false
2) extraordinarily dumb, because it means the players and coaches are never operating from the "real" clock. The "real" clock being a stopwatch that one of the judges has.
-
One explanation I read is that the clock should stop as soon as the ball passes over the end zone line.
I don't know if that is correct or not, or if the ball was OB with one second.
I don't know, except that the game is in the books and that won't change.
-
Of course it won't change. And of course UM won't forfeit or anything of the like, and neither would any of our schools if it happened to them.
What we can still root for is somebody is held accountable and is canned. Also apparently not without precedent.
-
I think at best, "we" might get a more clear cut explanation of what happened and why. At best ...
The "good news" I suspect is Michigan just garnered a whole rash of new haters who will cheer their every loss.

That is absolutely incorrect. Clock stops when the ball touches the ground out of bounds or touches an object or person out of bounds. A player is out of bounds when he touches out of bounds and continues to be out of bounds until he establishes himself in bounds. So the "official" explanation is wmu step out of bounds and never came back in bounds so when he touched the ball the clock would stop since it made the ball out of bounds. The only issue did the time expired before he touched the ball.
-
My point clearly is fans who heretofore were somewhat indifferent to UM, like me, now are not.
It doesn't really matter, but yeah, I'll be saying "YAY" if I see UM losing subsequent games from here, even to ND or Eastern Michigan.
-
But officials stopped the celebration and reviewed the play. They ultimately determined that Davis had touched the football while already established out of bounds with one second remaining, meaning the ball became dead at that moment and the clock should have stopped.
That gave Michigan one more chance. And this time, Underwood’s Hail Mary found JJ Buchanan, who came down with the 47-yard touchdown pass as time expired — this time for good — giving Michigan a 13-12 victory.
-
My point clearly is fans who heretofore were somewhat indifferent to UM, like me, now are not.

The inevitable Eastern Michigan loss in the not too distant future will sting a lot worse than a loss to WMU, since they are in neighboring towns.

Meh, a bunch of opinons, as usual. I personally don't know except to note a second either way is so slight it is a dubious metric in such timing situations.

Not as much chatter about the egregious Notre Dame / Wisconsin ruling where the guy was clearly out of bounds before he had possession but the call wasn't overturned.
It's good to be a shiny helmet.
Although, Wisconsin deserves whatever foul things happened to them in that game in light of wearing those putrid uniforms.
-
I have some fading memories of calls made against the Dawgs that were awful, mostly before review. They still have the L on their slate no matter the reason.
I usually believe officials have no "dog in the fight" and don't bias games with intent. Fans forget calls that went their way of course. This situation is ... odd, to me. They went to review, OK fine, but was there "clear and obvious" information with which to overturn based on one second?

No Washington either. Guessing the list was posted after Saturday's games
-
Yeah, it says though Saturday.
-
So, exactly to my expectations, I did watch our game, even staying up late to finish after a weather delay and an uncompetitive contest. Though I didn't have the pre-game butterflies I used to. I didn't know a great many players. I didn't care that I didn't know a great many players.
Still, I loved seeing the atmosphere....I love the uniforms and the stadium and hearing the familiar songs when the band plays. I find I still root for them in some way. I can't root for the individuals since I don't know them that well, but there is something inside me that still loves to see that uniform, on that field, and wants that team to succeed. However detached I am from the finer points I no longer follow or jive with, whatever I think about the staff and the program's current modus operandi, there's something familiar about the scene that feels like home and evokes a lot of great memories from yesteryear.
I guess I'll always root for them in some way, even if I don't feel the excitement I used to, the heartache of a loss like I used to, or care for the direction of the sport. The outcomes of their games interest me in a way that other games don't, and that's still some level of fandom. I'm probably not capable of putting them aside for good or completely not caring about the seasons. I'm also probably not capable of the elation a good win used to give me, but that's okay. It's still entertaining, and that's enough.

I was at the game and thought it was strange at the time that they completely cancelled all halftime activities. Now it makes more sense.
That is very sad to hear. Everybody was saying how dumb it was to start the game at 3:15 on a day with 95 degree heat and 105 heat index. I know tv controls everything but Iowa should have had the option to either delay the start to after 7pm or start or move the start up to 9 am in the morning.

They said on the turf it felt closer to 120.
I don't get how we delay games for lightning, but not for heat

My wife and I mentioned this specific possibility when the game was still going
https://dailyiowan.com/2026/09/08/ui-student-hawkeye-marching-band-member-taken-off-life-support-after-collapsing-in-heat/
When I first read the URL I was hoping it meant that the band member was taken off life support because they were better, before I remembered that is never how that phrase is used.
That is awful.

From the Hawkeye Band's FB page a little while ago. He didn't make it. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
To our Hawkeye Marching Band and School of Music family,
On Saturday, September 5, a student in our Hawkeye Marching Band family experienced a significant medical emergency, and this morning he passed away. Derek Phillips was our mellophone section leader, a beloved member of the School of Music horn studio, and the kind of friend, student, and musician that represents the very best of what it means to be a Hawkeye.
Losing a HMB family member is one of the most difficult tragedies we will experience. We are grateful to his parents, Sara and Brian, for providing regular updates throughout the weekend to HMB staff and the students who love him. We will continue to walk the journey together, and we will continue to provide support and resources to our students to ensure they are getting the care they need. The Hawkeye Marching Band and the School of Music are strong and resilient because of the people within. We appreciate the thoughts and well-wishes from so many members of our community.
Dr. Walker and I are grateful for the heroic actions of our athletic trainer, our police officers, university medical personnel, EMS, and our HMB students who responded immediately and provided assistance to Derek on-site before he was transported to UIHC.
Counselors will be on site in Voxman, and with the HMB all week. We encourage you to reach out to those around you and ask for support if you need it.
There is nothing more important than the safety of our students. Their well-being is always at the top of my mind. We are teaching them more than music and marching— and we are a family. I told the band on Saturday, when we gathered after we departed from Kinnick Stadium, “As a parent, the care I have for my own son extends to every single marching Hawkeye.”
This Saturday, and for the rest of our season, the Hawkeye Marching Band and School of Music will honor Derek’s memory, and we will communicate those details as they take shape.
The University of Iowa, the School of Music, and the Hawkeye Marching Band leadership will continue to provide support in the coming days, weeks, and months to students who need it. We understand that grief affects us in many different ways, and we are committed to supporting our students in whatever ways they need.
With much gratitude for our Hawkeye family,
Dr. Eric W. Bush
Director of the Hawkeye Marching Band
Associate Director of the School of Music
Dr. Tammie Walker
Director of the School of Music

I see you all have seen the story. I just heard it this afternoon. What a tragedy for this boy, his parents, and family. A good reminder to hydrate. I took this from the KCRG page linked. I just wanted to assure this young man is recognized, and is not just an unknown name on cfb51.com.

Even though both NFL officials they talked to said this was already the protocol bc otherwise means the teams on the field couldn't trust the clock on the field

We generally don't delay high school games for heat here in Phoenix area, but we stop the game at regular intervals for an officials timeout when the temp is really high to make sure the kids and us officials stay hydrated.

I actually did the same thing, I guess we are optimists.
This is incredibly sad.

That's an extremely relevant point I brought up with CD earlier. As for deferring to the clock in the feed, that's damaging to the optics, it seems, because that clock was clearly at 0:00 before the ball was touched, and thus dead.

I'm not sure, but I THINK they blew it, and it's now not reviewable.

You act like there are no judges in Kalamazoo

Look at Michigan's record in Sagarin.

Blech. Still annoyed at this. We actually got speedy replays and didn't have to watch 37 angles and five commercials to change a clearly wrong play.

Yeah, but there are plenty of people wondering why it took that video so long to come out

Iowa might have had those options, but w/o the telecast and therefore without the revenue to the Big Ten
-
Hopefully Iowa called the Big Ten office, and if they did, and were told to play, that becomes the worst offense the conference office committed Saturday.
Not sure how anyone can trust conference leadership at this point
-
It was the hotest game day in Athens ... ever...
-
In practical terms going forward, I'd opine the B1G has lost some, um, trust. Michigan has a "loss" in the minds of many. If they somehow finished 10-2, folks will regard it as 9-3.
-
hopefully, the committee will openly state that at the end of the season if the situation comes up
it would be nice if the voters in both polls showed this view as well
-
My hope is UM finishes 6-6 or worse.
-
The way they looked on Saturday they just might.

one would think that some of that bad karma would catch up with them sooner or later

Over 70 years of systemic institutionalized cheating never caught up to the Sooners, so why would you think that?

Boise St caught them one evening
and John Blake wasn't magic

And they won the MNC and played for a couple more just a few years later. It's amusing to me when I read Sooner fans lamenting the suffering they've endured. They have no idea. Husker fans do now, though.

I'm not a believer in Karma.

was it enuff for the Sooners, hell no!

Oklahoma

Penn State

@Rutgers
Michigan State

UCLA
@Ohio State
I see at least 4 losses, and if they play like they did Saturday, 6.

Barring a lot of improvement, I'd say 7-5 is likely, with one of the 7 being suspect.

Iowa and Minnesota could smack them in the face.
They have lost at Rutger.
Michigan State is always a battle.
UCLA will be freezing.
