It's cold and rainy in Columbus this morning, and some are even forecasting a but of snow. It's looks like it may dry up for this afternoon's festivities. It's great bean soup weather. But my wife hates beans and hates soup. Decisions....

That rain line left indy about 11pm last nite. Gonna check out the building site this am, as foundation was just poured.

Florida State now 2-5 after loosing to Boston College. Unless they go and make up game canceled Louisiana-Laffette earlier in the year the first week in December, they now need to win out to become bowl eligable (including at Clemson).

They got flat out whipped. BTW, how is Boston College a great offense now?

Wisconsin is on ESPN today, I'm pretty sure. Should be able to see it somewhere here in Florence.
Howdy all.

Jimbo and the seminoles looked terrible
maybe this Husker season isn't so bad

HA!Great minds and all that.We made ham & bean soup last nite. Will be eating it for breakfast/lunch/super/dessert today & tomorrow
-
yo Badge!
a skiff of snow here yesterday, 20 degrees this morning, going to make a batch of chili for the 6:30pm kick
haven't decided if I'll add a few beans for filler and call it soup - old guys need their fiber
-
That 3:30 slot with three games between ranked teams with playoff implications
WTF - you'd think the network wonks would stagger this ensuring a certain ratings boom. No,that's just too much to grasp, smdh. Two straight weeks ND went H-T-H with tOSU how is that a smart move.Fans will bounce around ensuring said networks don't have a captive audience.Where as one marquee match up in each time slot might garner that.Must think we're common rabble w/o reason

Go for it FF,can of Bud fat w/pinto/kidney/black beans is tasty healthful mix
-
Fox has the World Series, and OSU v PSU, no brainer which is a 330 start.
As for ND they schedule their night games way in advance. 1. Nobody thought Ncst would be at this level, 2. They aren't going OPPO world series.
-

Maaannn, days like today just call for a simmering pot of beans. Darned wife, how do I get someone to like beans?
-
And Ohio weather, gotta love it. Yesterday it was sunny and 70 degrees. Right now there is a pretty heavy snowfall coming down.
-
better try hypnosis
-
Watching from my hotel room at an indoor water park in Pigeon Forge, TN. Mom is on kid duty right now. Cold rainy day in Morgantown. Let's Go Mountaineers!
-
Justice Hill got lit up on Ok St's first drive and fumbled. WVU couldn't capitalize though. Hill going to locker room. Looks woozy.
-
OK St coughs it up on their first two drives and WVU responds with a punt and a turnover of their own. Of course, they capitalize on our mistake. 7-0 Pokes.
-
Beans v Wife. Tough call. They both will leave you, potentially unpleasantly.
I would choose wife...that pain can last a lot longer.
-
Some good College Game Day signs:
-Stop Fall Weddings
-We Aren't
-If you can read this Michigan still sucks
-White Out is for covering mistakes
-
There is a god. Michigan has a QB that can throw and is decisive. Also appears he has a feel for the position. Yes it’s Rutgers, but my god is it night and day.
-
I realize it's only Rutgers and I realize he's gonna make Frosh mistakes- like the one he threw right to a defender that should've been a pick- but Brandon Peters looks LIGHT YEARS better than John O'Korn. So much better it's not even funny. O'Korn was stinking up the joint. Peters comes in drives them down the field for a TD and then again in the 2 min drill.
I like the way he looks so far. It's only 1 QTR of football but he seems to read things way quicker and looks way more composed than O'Korn.
-

Yeah, he looked good. Need to see more obviously. But I liked what I saw. Speight is mediocre, O'Korn is just way too up and down. Peters should be the guy going forward. No tom foolery- Harbaugh just needs to play him and let him work through Frosh mistakes. Problem is its late in the season. He should've started him day 1 vs Florida.
-
After getting worked the entire first half WVU adds a late touchdown to cut it to 23-10. They also get the ball to start the 2nd half. A score there and we're right back in it.
-
On 9 hour flight between Rome and Washington. Hopefully landed by start of Penn State - Ohio State.
-
What the hell happened to the grass in chapel hill? It's like they had grubs attack it.
-
I'm watching Nc and the U too. Miami getting stonewalled by NC's defense
-
I blinked and suddenly WVU and Okie St is a competitive game
-
And just like that with a blocked punt and pick 6 WVU cuts it 30-24 late in the third.
-
Canes qb awful.
-
Terrible interference call against WVU.
-
The OSU unis are, you know, fine. As far as those things go. Wish they would just wear their actual uniforms in big games.
-
Welp. That's why you don't kick the ball to Barkley.
-
Ole Stonehands strikes again
-
Damon Webb with a nice play
-
Arnette with not a nice play
-
Yuck. Bad decision by JT there.
-
time to play, guess the team
(https://im5.ezgif.com/tmp/ezgif-5-3599303bc9.webp)
-
Buckeyes heads all bad. Mistakes everywhere, PSU just saying, thanks.
-
Yuck. Bad decision by JT there.
On which play? Haven't seen him do anything bad.
-
On which play? Haven't seen him do anything bad.
Threw that screen to Weber which lost 5 yards. No chance on it, needs to eat it and run up field if there are no other reads
-
Threw that screen to Weber which lost 5 yards. No chance on it, needs to eat it and run up field if there are no other reads
There is no option there. If he is open, and he was, you throw it. You count on the other WRs to make those easy blocks, which they didn't. You don't know this as a QB- if he is open you throw it.
-
Don't think so. PSU had numbers and no chance on the play, which was why he lost 5 yards
-
3rd false start penalty
-
Lovely and simple RPO there
-
Update from Jacksonville: Georgia has 3 TDs. Florida has 2 yards
-
Don't think so. PSU had numbers and no chance on the play, which was why he lost 5 yards
You will just have to trust me, from experience, that's how it works. Watch it again, when they run it.
In the meantime, are these guys nervous or what? Dropped first down pass, 3 false starts, fumble...
-
Not much to do there, though wish they would have kept running the ball
-
after 1 quarter:
MSU 7
NU 0
-
Buckeyes give up on kicking off
-
Defense holding up their end
-
JT money on his run reads so far
-
DB's doing the incomplete celebration after getting burned but the ball was terribly underthrown is incredibly annoying.
-
Bucks throw four times and don't make the first. Urbs need to tell Wilson to keep running the ball down there.
-
Also, WTF. Why not kick the field goal there?
-
Same refs who called the NW game, doing the Indy game today, and already, after knowing and apologizing for getting 5 calls wrong in that game, are calling a shit game and proving they don't care.
-
Didn't see any interference there at all
-
Bad call, Bucks can't recover, Barkley scores
-
(https://notthehardestpart.files.wordpress.com/2013/08/beavis-and-butthead.gif)
-
Great playcall there
-
FINALLY
-
MSU is about to pay for not cashing in on dominating the first half. This is like the Illinois game last year.
-
The kickoff coverage is absolutely abysmal. They don't even seem to understand how it's supposed to work
-
The kickoff coverage is absolutely abysmal. They don't even seem to understand how it's supposed to work
Yes, for sure. And it's killing them.
-
That was the worse call in the history of football
-
Wow. A game changing botched call. I hope PSU fans consider it even after years of bitching.
-
halftime score:
MSU 10
NU 10
go cats!
-
We'll take it
-
Whoot. Now for Christ's sake just kick this ball ten yards out of bounds
-
Northwestern is too good to not be up more than 10-0, and now it's tied with the Cats having all the momentum.
-
ISU up 14-0 n TCU
-
That was bad luck
-
JT again fails to see a screen getting blown up
-
BTW, is Dobbins hurt? Been all Weber lately.
-
Oh man, looked like Barrett would make the first down if he sprinted for it
-
Considering all the terrible things that happened - Ohio State is fortunate to only be down 11 points!
-
BTW, is Dobbins hurt? Been all Weber lately.
Wondering if it is because Weber is a better pass blocker.
-
go bucks!
-
And another long drive with no points. Sweet Jesus
-
If the Buckeyes can score when they receive the ball in the 3rd quarter, (big if), we have a ballgame!
-
Drive down inside the ten. Gain 6 on first down and get another false start. Yikes. They are beating themselves.
The officials are so off the wall with their PI calls and non calls for both teams.
-
A sloppily played and officiated game so far in Columbus. Would rather have gotten 7, but I will take the 3. Come on defense!
-
Refs are killing me. Hopefully more than the special teams.
-
Bucks celebratingg keeping the kickoff down at the 30, and I don't blame them
-
Damn, McSorley
-
The OSU secondary needs to start preventing catches, rather than tackling, after the damage is already done. Seems like a lot of PSU injuries, so far.
-
Obvious TD PSU
-
TD or INT
big call
I'd say TD
-
after 3 quarters:
MSU 10
NU 10
go cats!
-
WOW, refs completely go away from the rules of the game to give Penn State a touchdown
-
correct call
tie goes to the runner
-
Good reversal
-
rules of the game
tie goes to the offense
-
A terrible call, as the receiver did not retain possession. Screw these refs!
-
I don't think it was a tie until the ground anyway. PSU WR had it going to the ground.
-
I don't think it was a tie until the ground anyway. PSU WR had it going to the ground.
Maybe. Unfortunately, no replay showed that so it's just guessing. Replay isn't for guessing.
-
That two Ohio State interceptions in the end zone turned into 14 points for PSU by completely botched calls.
There was no tie there, and no evidence to overturn.
Oh well, Ohio State has made too many stupid self inflicted errors. Dropped passes , false starts, fumbles.
-
I disagree guys, the one angle clearly showed the PSU WR with his right hand and arm in possession.
-
Replay clearly showed simultaneous possession. Every non-Buckeye fan has said the same thing.
-
They need to fake these screens.
-
Replay clearly showed simultaneous possession. Every non-Buckeye fan has said the same thing.
They did not. It showed two bodies and you couldn't tell who had possession
-
trick play
thorson to jackson ... who throws a TD pass!
MSU 10
NU 17
go catS!
-
Good job refs. Good job.
Durkin complains, and they throw a flag on him.
About time he calls them out for this continuous BS.
-
They did not. It showed two bodies and you couldn't tell who had possession
Every objective observer on this board disagrees with you.
-

Well then they would be wrong.

Apparently the expert official on fox saw something similar to you Sam.
-
I think it was a TD, but... don't know if the replay was enough to overturn the call on the field
-
Thoroughly enjoying this Penn State Ohio State game. Looks like the Buckeyes have figured out Barkley enough, but the Nittany Lions are coming up with enough across the roster to make the Buckeyes pay elsewhere.
-
Irish up 35-14 on NC State

I would be less salty about the replay if they didn't already screw OSU out of another interception
-
Not kicking a field goal early in this game looming large
-
And another long drive with no points. Sweet Jesus
And another. Unreal
-
They had the first down??
-
If UM would have accepted the holding call and made it 2nd & 23 instead of 3rd & 11, I don't think the questionable TD, which I thought was a TD on the replay, would have ever happened. Sooooo many boneheaded coaching decisions by OSU, and JT missed two open td's on the same drive in the first half.
And another unforced error by JT...
-
And another. Unreal
You don't know the meaning of unreal
-
!!!!!
-
You can’t make this many mistakes, and expect to beat a good team, like PSU.
Nice punt block!
-
Whew!

You can't blame this on Barrett. He has played very well. That was his first real miscue
-
Every objective observer on this board disagrees with you.
But the announcers and paid official on Fox agree with him
-

True. I wasn't trying to insinuate that. My bad. Frustrated.
-
Officiating aside, this is some good B1G football.
-
Refs almost called a second penalty on Northwestern, then decided it was better to ignore a blatant targeting.
-
But the announcers and paid official on Fox agree with him
You mean the announcers that said this?
Gus: "Tie goes to the runner?"
Joel: "I don't know about that..."
So they don't know (lol), or chose to ignore, the simultaneous possession rule. Pretty crappy announcing.
-
ugh ... sparty ties it up with :25 left in regulation
-
heading to OT for a 2nd straight week
go cats!
-
DIXON!
Also, sounds like ISU will beat TCU
-
Sets up an interesting finish. PSU needs to control the clock, but that's not their offense

cats with the TD pass

Were you watching live? That is a small snippet of what they said. They also said it looks like Ward had possession in his own right. But no way you can overturn this. Then the Fox tv official totally agreed.
Sounds like you are the one who is not objective.
-
PSU punting
-
Well here we go. It would have been nice to have that field goal earlier....
-
They scored too fast
-
wow ... we're heading to a 3rd OT
go caTS!

WHEW WHJEW WHEJHW WHEHWHW EHWHWEHE

hell yeah - go cats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12 penalties 133 yards.
Same crew.
-
12 penalties 133 yards.
Same crew.
We win, despite these shitty refs.
-
Wow, what a great and exciting game!
Great play by JT and the D-line today.
Condolences to Penn State fans, I honestly thought you had us beaten.
-
JT certainly made his doubters eat crow. I was one of them.
-
The playoff selection committee might frown on PSU playing Akron twice as a non-conf opponent.
-
apparently things got heated after a kickoff in UK-UT and the refs just gave unsportsmanlike penalties on every single player on both sides
-
4 empty possessions inside the 30, none for Northwestern. Story of the game. And the penalties.
-

thanks. For correcting the experienced official and the announcers, and all of the MSU and. UM fans I blog with. Obviously you see and know all
Karma though.

I hate the refs. I hate PSU.
That was a PSU TD.
-
JT certainly made his doubters eat crow. I was one of them.
When I'm done with my nitro pill and they remove they paddles from my chest - I'll have that humble pie & crow

When I'm done with my nitro pill and they remove they paddles from my chest - I'll have that humble pie & crow
Ha, it's a great thing to eat crow over. His numbers were mind boggling:
- he completed 16 straight to end the game
- he was 13-13 in Q4
-he was 33 of 39 with three easy ones dropped. That 85% or 90% without the drops
-328 yards, 4tds, 95 yards rushing for 423 total yards
- became the Big Tens ALL TIME leader in TD passes, passing Drew Bree's
Against the nation's #1 scoring defense and #7 pass defense.
But more than anything else, his grit despite being down all game is what makes him a special college QB, and why Urban has always stuck with him.
-
Purdue having trouble as our captain CB Da'Wan Hunte is out injured. Purdue took a 24-12 lead, but the Huskers just marched down the field to score and make it 24-19, picking on Hunte's backup.
-
Now Ja'Whaun Bentley is injured. Hopefully not serious... Ugh. Purdue has ZERO depth anywhere but the WR position, and now we're seeing some OL, DB, and LB injuries.
-
It's unbelievable how bad this WR group is.
Once again the story of the game is dropped passes
-
Losing Bentley would have been big. This defense is bad ass though. Losing Holt would be substantial. When other teams come calling, Purdue needs to pay that man to stay.
-

couldn't agree more.
Always been a huge fan of JT. I never got the OSU fan hate on him. He's been a great player and leader for Ohio State for a long time. Class act all the way through too.
Idk why they hated. Bc he wasn't perfect? Is he Vince Young? Is he Tim Tebow? No but who the hell is? If people didn't like him bc he wasn't on that level- well newsflash- no one is. I think he's every bit the QB Troy Smith was and I don't remember #10 taking the kind of flack #16 got from the OSU fan base.
-
So much for defense.
This team is still embarrassing
-

We still have a good shot at 5 wins. I would have thought coming into this year that 5 wins was a hell of a rebuild. Now I'm looking at 5 wins like it's utter crap.
-

Lol, I agree. It's disappointing, but maybe encouraging at the same time.
The talent is obviously not there. It will take Brohm 2-3 years to get players that can win consistently.
I hate to criticize these guys, but there is still a losing mentality around.
What's worse is that the coaches failed as well. That conservative call on 3rd down made me cringe. Prevent defense was atrocious, the DL was predictable, and the secondary gave up the sideline on every play. Wtf.
-
Khail Tate only had 11.3 yards/carry today so he decided to complete 10 passes for 275 to finish up perhaps the most ridiculous month of any player ever.
-
It's unbelievable how bad this WR group is.
Once again the story of the game is dropped passes
agreed, if Purdue receivers merely catch 2 or 3 of the 10 or 11 balls that hit them in the hands its a win for the Boilers
Boilers outplayed and outcoached the Huskers for 3 quarters or more
I don't think the better team won this one
-
Nebraska was 'one of those' teams last night. 400+ yds passing, a very small # of rushing yards, more or less abandoning the run, and they have to scrape on by. As a fan it was such a guilt ridden victory.
p.s. yeah, that Tate kid is special to watch. Looking forward to going to the AZ at USC game next weekend.
-
I disagree guys, the one angle clearly showed the PSU WR with his right hand and arm in possession.
I thought it was a good call also.Ohio St got hosed on the Webb Int in the end zone- I saw no interference at all from Arnette or Webb.Joe Klatt said the same thing.Lions got a TD after that
-

There wasn't PI on Webb- which was what was called. There was however BLANTANT defensive holding on Arnette that play. So I was OK with the PI call- even if it was the wrong call. Only problem there is difference in penalty yardage. Both are auto 1st downs. PI in college is 15 yarder and defensive holding is 10, so all PSU really got there was a free 5 yards.
As for the TD- simaltenous poessesion always go to the offense. It's pretty cut and dry. I thought they'd over turn it as soon as it happened.
-

Yeah, 2 weeks in a row that catching passes that are on the money would have resulted in wins. Purdue needs some WR talent badly.
That said, this game looks a LOT different if Purdue hadn't stiffened up their defense incredibly on the goal line. Nebraska twice had first and goal inside the 10 and only got 6 points out of it. They later had a 1st down inside the red zone but turned it over on downs. Nebraska moved the ball well on a lot of drives (5 drives >60 yards) and it didn't show up on the scoreboard. Oh, and listening on the radio I recall an easy TD catch by Nebraska that the receiver dropped, and that would have replaced one of the FG drives.
The real killer for Purdue was losing Hunte. Once that happened, we couldn't stop Nebraska on defense at all. Both touchdowns game after the Hunte injury, and Nebraska was simply relentlessly attacking his backup, Kamal Hardy.
So IMHO Nebraska tended to be the better statistical team on the back of Tanner Lee and the passing game. Their score didn't really reflect their statistical output [much like Purdue last week]. I wouldn't say one would call Purdue the "better team" over the course of the game, but they managed to bend and not break, until the Hunte injury.
Neither team clearly differentiated themselves from the other, but Nebraska ended up putting it together when it mattered.
-
yup, the Huskers moved the ball well vs the Badgers defense, but yardage doesn't equal points
lack of running game is a killer on first and goal
the Huskers offense with a QB like Lee has great potential, but lack of consistency in the red zone has really hurt the score board.
-
Okay. I hate to admit it, but dancing Brutus was the best thing I've seen so far today on the Internet.

the day is young!
