I'll tell you you what I facking hate - corporate corksockers screwing with tradition. That the Kentucky Derby has gradually moved later into the evening over the years, in an attempt to capture a larger primetime television audience. So I went to AI to see if I was imagining these subtle shifts and sure enough

Traditional Day Start: For much of the 20th century, the Derby was a mid-to-late afternoon event. For example, it often had a post time closer to 5:30 p.m.

Incremental Shifts: Over the last decade or so, the time has been pushed back in roughly 15-to-25-minute increments. It moved from around 6:04 p.m. to 6:32 p.m., eventually reaching the current 6:57 p.m. slot.

I was at the UT beisbol game and missed it. But I have always enjoyed it, for the pageantry if nothing else.

I probably blame it more on the Badger who knew better and the Florida fan who claims to love philosophy but commits the most constant stream of fallacies I've ever seen.

Ya know what else I hate? When folks belittle other people and say they don't understand statistics, but I have a master's degree in statistics and can't help but note that said folks appear to be the ones that are strangling the facts and torturing the logic until it screams whatever they want to hear.

I mean, it doesn't make me a better person or more valuable as a human being or anything. But it does mean I can take exception to blanket statements that try to label the recipients of not understanding something that they are formally trained in.
