Herman went conservative with 12:00 left in the game.  Idiot move.

Dicker is nails.  Too sunburned to haiku right now.

Bring the rock.  Man up.  Pound the middle.  Play tough.  Go Texas.  Beat those unwashed, uneducated, Tom Joad-like, toothless masses to the north.  Go you arrogant, wealthy, refined, top ranked university bastages.

Here's my Okie perspective on all this, which I think Bill Murray captured perfectly:

It just doesn't matter!
Never can blame a man for his bravado.

Florida is ranked 22nd, texas 17th.  So, plus 5 for the RRR.  Of course, texas is about to fall out of the rankings, so even that is ephemeral.

What an interesting take.  I'd love to hear more about this?

Thanks!  Any win over the hated Sooners is a good one.  But that game was especially thrilling.

Might not be the last time these teams meet this season, which would be weird, but that's how it goes.

Clearly, they are about to FALL, meaning drop, from 17th to about 11th, which is a decrease of course.
Congrats on the win and a fun game that ALMOST got away.

The game did *almost* get away, but not due to talent.  Herman started trying to put this one on ice way too early.
When Texas needed to drive down the field and finish it, they did.
I do not fear a rematch in the least.

I’m really going to laugh if Texas and OU meet again in the CCG. That “One True Champion” bit from a few years ago was hilarious once TCU and Baylor tied.

Has anybody considered that Texas could very well be in position for the CFP and get knocked out by OU?

Wouldn’t be the first time those bastards screwed us.  See 2008.
But I think it’s presumptuous to count our chickens before they hatch.  Texas might be able to beat Top Ten teams but we’re also capable of losing to unranked teams too. Herman’s Cougar High teams were that way too.  We ain’t out of the woods yet.

Even if Texas runs the table, losing to Maryland will keep Texas out of the playoff.

I don't think so

a 1 loss Conference champ has a VERY good chance to get in

Maryland is 3-2 with Rutgers coming up

their 2 losses?

Michigan is looking strong, that loss might not hurt them

Temple is 3-3 and 2-0 in their conference

This is pretty much the way the Big 12 works for any team.  Do we still have the same commissioner that thought of this?  Sheer comedy.
