I thought this article was hilarious:

Big 12 nightmare – for the first time since 2011, a perfect OU-Texas

Bill Haisten
Tulsa World Sports Columnist & Writer

For detractors of the SEC-bound Sooners and Longhorns, there is the ongoing development of the worst-case scenario – that OU and Texas would be the Big 12's best teams during their final season in the league.

In August, while speaking during a Red Raider Club event in Lubbock, Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark openly rooted for Texas Tech to beat Texas this season. While the Red Raiders already have three losses, Texas has a signature win over Alabama.

For the first time since 2011 and only the sixth time in the last 24 seasons, OU-Texas is a clash of an undefeated Sooner squad and an undefeated Longhorn squad.

When it happened in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2011, Oklahoma prevailed each time. When it happened in 2008, Mack Brown's fifth-ranked Longhorns defeated the top-ranked Sooners 45-35.

OU won the 2008 conference trophy, however, with a Big 12 Championship victory over Missouri. When the Sooners were given the golden ticket to face Florida for the BCS national championship, Texas fans were livid.

As the college football season drives into October, OU and Texas are the only unbeaten Big 12 members. During the OU-Texas build-up, this game won't be celebrated as a flex of Big 12 strength.

Instead, there will be a billion reminders that OU and Texas are headed to the SEC. It's a great Big 12 match-up that really isn't good for the Big 12.

If Yormark and other Big 12 loyalists are turned off by a nationally significant OU-Texas game in the Cotton Bowl, they'll be sick if there's an OU-Texas rematch in the conference championship game.

Yeah this is shaping up to be a mess for the B12.

I don't have any personal animosity for the B12, I really liked the conference in its original incarnation and wish it could have persisted in that form.

But I do have plenty of animosity for the current B12 commissioner who is actively, openly, publicly rooting against Texas.  I'd love to see Texas run the table, win the B12, and then shove the trophy up that dude's ass.

I agree with all of that once I fixed the last sentence. :)

Is OU really favored, or is this just some ESPN smoke ?

My own observations....OU may be good, but we don't know because they have not really played any tough games ( I acknowledge that they originally had Georgia scheduled but had to cancel due to the conference change).  Texas did win at Alabama, and has played well since.  I think Texas is going to win this one handily, and issues from last seasons OU dismal team will reappear.  I'm thinking like 35-10, but not that close type of game.

I also believe that there is a lot of football left to be played in the Big 12, and there may be another contendor before this season is over and neither OU nor Texas could end up winning it all.  October will define that.

ESPN's FPI power ranking loves the Sooners so I assume that's their actual take on it.

However, their SOS rankings to date have Texas at 16 and OU at 82.

So that clears everything up, right?

Texas is a 6.5 point favorite according to Vegas

the game will be a close one

Texas 34 OU 27
They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

Last line I saw was Texas by 6.5 which seems low to me.  Sooners are going to have to catch some breaks to have a chance.

edit - 320 posted as I was posting.  Put a gun to my head and I'd take UT.

Yeah this is shaping up to be a mess for the B12.

I don't think there's any scenario where this wasn't going to be a mess for the B12.

UT and OU could both go 0-11-1, and they'd still be taking the marquee names of the conference and their national interest with them.

The problem of OU's metrics is that it's like giving a 4th grade arithmetic test to AP high schoolers. They're pretty much going to ace it, so you're left examining minute differences in timing to make some semblance of a rank.

In other words, the Sooners have played a box full of wet tissue paper thus far. Thus far, they've torn right through all of it.

They may well be all that and a bag of pretzels, but I'd sure hate for this to be the first time to be hit in the mouth.
