There is no doubt about it on the Defensive side.  Arguably the best in the country.

They have run over everybody on O.  I think they are for realz.  But watch them lay an egg since I said it.

I thought everything was legal in Louisiana

Psh.  We have laws.

It's illegal to sell bland food.

What do you think we are?  Savages?

Mmmmmm gumbo.

@MikeDeTiger -- did you know that @847badgerfan  hates gumbo?  I mean, he detests the stuff.

That boy ain't right.

Oh and also, @Cincydawg couldn't find a single restaurant he liked in New Orleans.  Or Austin, for that matter.

Old people, man.

I do not like Gumbo at all.

I will not have it when we go to New Orleans at the end of February.

Guilty as Charged.  Although Louisiana...I could offer no help since you guys adopted the French Code instead of the English Common Law.  And guess where my oldest kid ended up....

I'm too old to even think about re-learning all the crap I forgot the day after the Bar, so a Kansan I shall ever be.

I don't know where the LSU law school ranks according to the guys who sit in ivory towers sipping expensive champagne nobody can pronounce congratulating themselves on being part of their own club, but I used to hear that one benefit of graduating from there was that you'd be prepared to practice anywhere, whereas graduates of many other law schools would be prepared to practice most places, but not Louisiana.  Not prohibited, per se, but just unprepared for it, since as you say, Louisiana law is based on the Napoleonic Code.  Apparently English Common law is covered at LSU (makes sense, since everybody else is based on it), whereas the French stuff is not covered elsewhere (also makes sense, because almost nobody uses it, why waste time on it?).

No idea if there's any truth to that.

Anyway, you said "you guys...."  Just an FYI, I'm a Texan.  I was born and raised in Louisiana, but I keep winding up here.  And, I have to say, I'm okay with that.

I used to be a petroleum landman in Texas, which dealt a lot with oil and gas law of the state.  Each state has its own laws, governed by its own state entity (it's the Railroad Commission in Texas, bizarrely enough).  While nothing like being a lawyer, it was a crash course in property law, probate law, and oil and gas law.  So what little I know about the law, I learned Texas' ways, and know very little about Louisiana.  I was in the business long enough to to meet people who had worked in Louisiana, and when they'd give me the high points about some of the differences of landman work in Louisiana vs. Texas, it always seemed like Texas laws made way more sense, though whether it's because they were objectively more intuitive or because it's what I learned first, I don't know.

The last crew I worked on, several of our guys were lawyers.  One was in law school, and when he took the bar, he either had a sample copy to prepare, or he had a copy of his actual exam, or something.  He showed us the Oil & Gas portion of the exam, which was pretty short.  Our crew chief looked it over, snorted, and said he'd fire anybody who couldn't answer those questions.  I think they were essay/short answer questions, but I was happy to say at the time, I thought I could adequately pass that little section of the bar.

Kinda weird.  Most everyone I've ever met likes gumbo.  Not sure what there is not to like about it, unless one just doesn't like the roux, maybe.  But chicken?  Turkey?  Sausage?  Rice?  I'd be surprised if @847badgerfan were opposed to any of those.

If Cincy really couldn't find a single restaurant he liked in NOLA or Austin, he's either pulling your leg, or he had astronomically improbable, extraordinarily bad luck in happening upon only the few duds, or his taste buds just suck.  Whichever one it is, I pity da fool.

All good, tho.  More for me.  And if I need a wingman, I know my man utee94 can be counted on for a quick visit to the Louisiana Longhorn.

Amen, brutha!  It's been a minute since I visited but I've been many times over the years, since you introduced me to it, and it's always good.

I've gotta get myself back to NOLA though.  It's been 2 years, which is way too long.

We are a rice people.  As the old adage about a Louisiana mom goes:  Woman starts the rice, husband asks "What are you cooking?"  She answers "I don't know, but I'm getting the rice ready!"

You might wanna seriously reconsider your trip to NOLA in February.

Man, wish I had more time to discuss many of these interesting issues.

Rice: I like it, but I'm on the hard-core Keto wagon.  Had been yo-yo'ing upward since 1992 (when I met the isca wife.  After reaching 311.8 on Jan 2, 2024, this morning was a svelte 209.0.  2 pounds more than July of 1992.

MDT, I handle mainly Divorce, Custody, and Criminal stuff.  I only passed Property II because they school felt guilty--the grades were coming out after I could add another class to get my 90 hours the final semester, so my buddy and I that studied (lol) together both got D-minues.  Probably roundly deserved.  They probably thought I wouldn't pass the bar anyway.  HA!

To take another twist, that buddy took the Bar in Kansas the max times, California, and I think finally passed Missouri, then was living in Chicago.  He fell over dead of a heart explosion the winter of 2020 at 49.  And he was skinny, a little extra motivator to lose the lbs.

Back to work.  Jury trial next week and a whole bunch of people demanding crap addressed yesterday.  What did Wingy say, "I'm a businessman and don't have time for this $hit!"

Check you cats later.

I've heard people talking about the Keto diet, but I don't really know what it is.  Low carbs?

Consume less than 20 grams of carbs per day.  High fat, low carb intake.

Dr. Boz, Dr. Berg, and Dr. Ken Berry on the youtubes are awesome sources.  Keto Continuum by Dr. Boz is a great enlightener.

Taking a minute to wait on the persecutor to ring me back.  There is a chance at a deal here.

You guys remember when Hooky would cosplay he was a lawyer and various other things?
