I was extremely near-sighted my whole life (literally couldn't read the Big E in the chart) and had Lasik at age 42.  Had mono-vision done.  They told me I would probably need cheaters within 3-4 years, but here I am at age 49, barely hanging on.

Interestingly, I heard there is a muscle of some sort in your eye socket that squeezes the eye, ever so slightly, which is what makes you able to focus close up.  Essentially, as you age, this muscle loses it's ability to perform, thus the need for readers.

My wife is super pissed, she always had great vision, last few years has to have the cheaters and I don't, and I always wore glasses.
Yep, hence the existence of bi-focals and tri-focals as we age.
Got a buddy that is 8 yrs older that has his hearing aids attached as part of the new glasses too.
Sucks getting old. But I guess it's better than the alternative.
I'm in the middle of getting yet another tooth crowned.  Not too bad--just my 5th--since my dentist I had for the first 47 years of life said he thought my teeth would have crumbled long ago, due to the hard ass water from the Ogallala Aquifer that led to faulty enamel development as a child.  But holy hell is that an expensive maintenance requirement!

Well, the Sunflower Showdown is on tap for the week.

When I arrived in Manhattan, the series was way out of whack in favor of the Blue Chickens.  We lost 3 of the 4 while I was in school.  Then, the old man got things going.

28-4 since I graduated, including the present 16 game win streak.

Earlier, after this present team--projected to be in the playoffs--laid more eggs than the Easter Bunny could ever hope to deliver, I was resigned to taking a big L in Lawrence.  Now, it seems as if it should be competitive.  Probably have just got our hopes up to be dashed--we are Charlie Brown and my alma mater in chasing success is most definitely Lucy holding the football.

But hey, life goes on and is generally good, right?!

That is quite something.

I am feeling the love.  I'm also glad it's televised in that people who want to can actually watch!

KU still leads the series, depending on the Big 8's order of a KU win forfeited in 1980, 64-53-5 or 65-52-5, depending on if you follow rules, and KU has traditionally not done so.  The sneaky way they got permission to use the steel to build their basketball cathedral in wartime, and the recent "upgrade" to the football stadium considered.

Sunflower Showdown - Wikipedia

Been a long slog getting closer after starting the first 20 years 1-17-2!

The Blue on the left column in that series breakdown is pretty gross, I prefer the right purple and modern history--I'd rather have the present dominance than the past in this instance.  But they have to have something to crow about...and that's a sound a Jayhawk bird apparently does make.
