just wait for the NCAA version of Jerry Jones or Al Davis
We haven't seen him yet, but it's always possible of course.

At Texas we have too many big boosters for any one of them to dominate.  So they like to mess everything up as a group.

The most money is concentrated in two cities-- Dallas, and Houston.  And those two sets of boosters have a bit of a rivalry going.  They don't always see eye to eye.  Which is bad for the program.

Yeah, I honestly think it's possible that the man is holding on, just so he can see Oregon win a football national championship.  It's interesting how much pure will can be associated with longevity, and also, once that will is gone, how quickly a person can pass away.

Like aging spouses, when one of them finally passes away, and then the other one dies within months or even weeks.
Yep. That's especially true when the wife dies first.

Sure. But to date, I don't recall any single mega-donor doing it, at any school of note.
I don't know about screwing things up, but the late T. Boone Pickens at oSu had the school making personnel decisions it otherwise would not have made. Elevating the golf coach to the A.D. position was an example.

Mike Gundy is a butt-head, not a schmoozer, and Pickens liked to be schmoozed, so that caused some tension.

Sure but until recently, very recently, Gundy and the oSu football team had plenty of relative success.  They're not a blueblood and never will be, so their level of achievement was at least somewhat elevated compared to their historical levels and expectations.

So I certainly wouldn't accuse Pickens of "running the program into the ground" which was the wording Fearless used with respect to fears about one single donor running the whole show.

They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

Nope didn't make it this year. Crazily there was no marching band contest for my kids this year, but none of my normal crew were going to be able to go, so I'd have been flying solo.  So I stayed at home.

Next year we'll be done with marching band so I'm definitely making plans to be up there for it.

Preach on brother.

Did everyone get off my lawn?  My old fart eyes can't always tell.

Ha, I just aksed my assistant if the envelope I just printed was blurry.  Nope, it's my eyes.  My response, "good, I can't fix a printer."  Time to stockpile readers.
