Off the top of my head, most of the SEC Shorts schtick about Texas revolves around Texas being richer than everybody else.  Which.....is true, but eventually is kind of a one-trick pony in their skits.  I could be misremembering.

What I noticed was, by about halfway through the season, they really didn't include Texas much at all.  I really think they just didn't know where to take it.  I get it, it's tough to consider Texas an "SEC school."  Texas certainly doesn't think of itself as such.

But I imagine they'll find a way to do it.  If they care to.

Those clashes with Leach and Tech vs A&M were epic. I recently looked up our Big 12 record with Tech and I was somewhat surprised to find that we were 6-10 vs Tech across that time. As I recall, Leach was coach there for about 10-12 of those games so I’m not shocked that it was so bad. We lost a couple to Spike Dykes and crew in the late 90’s but Tech and Leach were very formidable in the mid-2000’s until they fired him.

Not sure if anybody remembers but about 2006ish A&M had a pretty good team. It might have been a year or two before or after. Anyways believe it or not we were in contention for the Big 12 South, having lost a few games by a handful of points including OU at Kyle by 2 points I think. Anyways we lost to Tech at the very end of the game. Their WR caught a heavily defended pass in the end zone for a TD. As he was walking off the field the sideline reporter asked him for a comment and he said “ sometimes a pirate beats a soldier”.

I can admire the man now but that one stung.

Leach ran a high risk/high reward program. They were never going to get the talent to straight up compete with the "big boys", but he ran his team at a pace that always gave him a shot to post a big win. Everyone remembers those, but they don't talk too much about the embarrassing losses to the small fry. The "no lead is safe" mantra worked both ways.
His fans ate it up, because they didn't mind losing to a joke program as long as they could celebrate a win against the contenders.

Yeah, true.

They were fun to watch.  otoh, I remember watching a game Tech played vs. OU sometime in the mid/late aughts where at the end, Tech had the game won, all they needed to do was run out the clock.  So what happened?  They did what Tech always did with Leach, and threw the ball, 3 or 4 incompletes, stopping the clock, OU got the ball back, scored, ballgame.

I appreciated the insanity of it as a neutral observer.  Were a Tech fan, I would've clawed my eyeballs out.

Friend, have you ever seen the A&M/ UCLA game from about 2017?  Talk about incompetency.  Up 30 something to like 7 or something late in the 3rd quarter and lost the game because Sumlin kept throwing the ball with a brand new QB.

I'm sure I watched it, but I don't recollect it at present.

There is an infamous game for LSU fans against Auburn, I'm not exactly sure when, I think '93 or '94, which Auburn fans refer to as the "PASS JAMIE PASS" game, in which LSU lead 24-10 going into the 4th quarter, with AU barely being able to move the ball, converting just one first down the entire half.  However, LSU QB Jamie Howard threw five interceptions in the 4th quarter, three which were returned for TDs.  One first down, and they scored something like 27 points in the comeback.

Fans just watched in horror as we kept dialing up yet another pass play, when all anyone, anywhere, in purple and gold wanted was to RTDB.
