I was extremely near-sighted my whole life (literally couldn't read the Big E in the chart) and had Lasik at age 42. Had mono-vision done. They told me I would probably need cheaters within 3-4 years, but here I am at age 49, barely hanging on.
Interestingly, I heard there is a muscle of some sort in your eye socket that squeezes the eye, ever so slightly, which is what makes you able to focus close up. Essentially, as you age, this muscle loses it's ability to perform, thus the need for readers.
My wife is super pissed, she always had great vision, last few years has to have the cheaters and I don't, and I always wore glasses.
Yep, hence the existence of bi-focals and tri-focals as we age.
Got a buddy that is 8 yrs older that has his hearing aids attached as part of the new glasses too.
Sucks getting old. But I guess it's better than the alternative.
I'm in the middle of getting yet another tooth crowned. Not too bad--just my 5th--since my dentist I had for the first 47 years of life said he thought my teeth would have crumbled long ago, due to the hard ass water from the
Ogallala Aquifer that led to faulty enamel development as a child. But holy hell is that an expensive maintenance requirement!
