Emmylou Harris is an American singer and songwriter who has won 13 Grammys and many other awards. She was born on April 2, 1947 and is still alive and kicking, according to Dead or Kicking website. And Wiki doesn't have her listed as dead either nor does the bio on her Website so you can sing along with out bawling

she lives

I got tricked by youtube crap

glad it was fake

I love the Big Band era.
How cool is it that 155 years after it was written, and 85 years after Glenn Miller recorded it, a Japanese all-girl big band is playing "Little Brown Jug"?

Growing up where your dad served in the Pacific in WWII and your mom was 18 at the height of that war we had wall to wall big band music

Miller, Artie Shaw, the Dorsey brothers and others were played a lot

Now that marching band season is over, my kiddos are having some fun playing with some friends in a jazz combo and they're doing some big band pieces.  My son asked me if I knew who Glenn Miller was.  I said, "Yeah he's the dude they mention in that Little River Band song..."

My Dad served in the Pacific and my mom worked at Oak Ridge for a time in 1942 out of college.  She went to UT.

Among my favorites are Miller's "American Patrol,"

Tommy Dorsey's "Song of India," maybe because it's the intro to Call to Glory, a documentary on the Flying Tigers, that I used to show my Military History students,

and Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing!"
