I’m taking a year off from the rivalry, out of tribute to Jon. My only comment this fall about OU-Texas, in tribute to our dear friend JCG/HH/CH is
Hook’em
I'd tried to attach a photo my son and I sent Jon to cheer him up when he was in the hospital. The attachment function isn't working for me though, so i just put it in my avatar photo - don't know if you can see that, it's kind of tiny. If you can't, it's just my son and I, standing there with goofy grins, holding a sign that says Hook'em Jon and both with hook'em hand signs.
(As a side note, when we were making the photo, I found that I do not own an orange shirt, and i mean of any shade of orange not just burnt - ha - and so the best I could do was a white shirt with an orange colored binder to frame the message.)
And, I know this did achieve the goal of making him laugh and lifting his spirits, as he later txted me. It may sound silly, and well it is, but as most of you know, our relationship has been one of 20 years of giving each other continuous BS about the RRS, here on the Porch and in offline discussions, and so this was one small way I could tell him that his friendship meant more to me than any football team. I couldn't do much for him while he was suffering with this ridiculously unfair disease, but at least I could do that.
