What's UT's/TH's problem in recruiting trench ponies this year?

Gotta have trench ponies.  You can't play 11 5-star DBs at the same time.
Out of 20 recruits so far only 4 are Off linemen
That has this Horn worried
They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

The younger the coach, the less important the trenches.  Maybe TH knows you gotta get the glamour and glitz first if you wanna attract the meat and potatoes.

You know, if I were a coach today, I would do the exact opposite of everyone else.  It's what Mike Leach did, and it pretty much changed the whole game.

Now time for someone to change it back.

Isn't that the big problem?  How many OC's and systems has UT had in the last 4 years?  Is Herman wanting to have his system or Tim Beck's?  Casey Thompson reminds me of Greg Ward, TH's QB at Houston but you guys also signed Cameron Rising, a pro-style QB so it is kind of hard to tell what the offensive vision will be.

I have a hard time letting high school football put a life-long stamp on what kind of QB a kid can/will be.

The problem with A&M, is that Jimbo has to improve upon a modicum of success.  Herman only had to improve upon Charlie Strong. (which has happened but is largely intangible thus far)

If Jimbo does worse than Sumlin in his first year, the road won't get any easier.  These are not your Aggies of yesteryear.  These are entitled t-sips wearing maroon.

Aggies are in a dangerous situation.  Sumlin did not SUCK as a coach.  Just like when we canned Mack, the roof fell in because the next coach couldn't get Mack's unacceptable 8 wins.  If Jimbo doesn't at least match Sumlin's output right out of the box, then there will be tremors underneath the bonfire.
A&M's 2018 schedule includes:
home vs Clemson
at Alabama
at South Carolina
at Mississippi State
at Auburn
home vs LSU
You'll note that includes two CFP participants from this season, along with another that almost made the CFP.  If Fisher was ever going to get a pass... 2018 will be the year.  After that then yes.... he better deliver.  But back on recruiting, we'll get our first glimpse into how his tenure will go after we start to see how the 2019 recruiting class starts to shape up.

SOS only works with the educated fan.  It's all about W's and L's for everybody else.  And even the educated fan can't ignore the W/L column either.

If Jimbo goes .500 - TexAgs will be on my fave links.

Rightly or wrongly, the money he is getting set him (and A&M) up to either be a laughing stock or a national power, there is no in between.

Well... I certainly don't buy that.  If A&M goes 9-3 every year.... that hardly makes us a laughingstock, but still doesn't put us in the national power ranks either.  So there is in between.

But I do think the odds of boom or bust, with no gray area... are more likely.

True, but there are a lot of programs that can win 9 games for less money.

No argument, but I hardly think that would make us a "laughingstock".
I mean... is paying $7.5mil/year to win 9 games really any worse than paying $5mil/year to win only 6?

not many care how much the coach gets paid

if they did the coaches wouldn't be making that kind of jack

all anyone cares about are the wins and losses
