Gundy came close to losing his team last year--mostly Black players--over some dumbass socio-political comments. He seemed to have patched that up. The Pokes lost to Texas in the Big 12 CCG last year, then beat Texas A&M in the creatively named Texas Bowl.
So, with OU and Texas leaving, oSu was the preseason favorite to win the Big 12 championship in 2024. For reasons that I have not closely followed, they were worse this year than they were good last year. Gundy has had to fire both his coordinators in the process of keeping his job. Both of them were from D2 schools. They may have had something to do with the steep decline.
