Is it too early to ask about OUs next coach ?
Not too early for me. This coaching staff is demonstrating John Blake-level incompetence.
I think that the Peter Principle has kicked in for Brent Venables. Great defensive coordinator, mediocre (at best) head coach.

The Sooners lost 6 fumbles. The last one was by Billy Simms after he had carried 17 yards to the Husker 3. There was 3:27 left in the game.

The Huskers ground out a 1st down, but faced 3rd and 8 at the 17. On the play, OU CB Basil Banks was flagged for a personal foul and the Huskers were able to run out the clock.

17-14 Huskers.

That team might have been Switzer's most talented. But it wasn't the most disciplined. Lots of penalties and turnovers.

Sooners and Huskers ended tied for the Big 8 championship, but by virtue of the head-to-head victory, the #6 Huskers (9-2) were selected to represent the conference in the Orange Bowl.

Much to Dr. Tom's chagrin, #4 OU (10-1) was selected as the visiting team, and the Sooners won the rematch 31-24. Both programs were pretty frustrated with that season.
