Henson whooped your asses the year before in Columbus. He was a SIGNIFICANTLY better QB and player than John Navarre. Henson would've been the #1 overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft had he stuck with football.

Henson's JR year in 2000 is still the best QB'ing I have ever seen watching Michigan football. He would've only been better in 2001 had he quit baseball and committed fully to football.
You need to quit stringing together fantasies where everything comes together as you wish it.If the Queen had balls she'd be king and if,butts and ors were candy nuts and whores evryone has a merry christmas.M had 4 losses and Brady really came together later. And Carr(No 1) had a much better career than Henson.Who never did squat in the League - if he was all that he could have gave it a shot

That game put a seal on the John Cooper era at OSU, leading to the hiring of Jim Tressel. OSU should put a statue up of Henson.

He was great that game- he threw for 300+ and 3 TD's and he also added a TD run on the ground. Michigan hasn't had a QB dominate like that vs Ohio State since.

I'm not too sure any QB would have excelled for 2001 UM.
The running game stunk, with a young Chris Perry backing up a FB-turned-RB BJ Askew.  And only one receiving threat in Marquise Walker.  They had no one else catching balls that year.

The defense was great vs the run, but gave up 20+ points in half their games, so it wasn't great.
.
I can buy a better QB would get them in a position that MSU couldn't score on the last play and beat them and beat Warshington in a game of offensive and special teams ineptitude.  As for the other game, no QB is likely to lead you back from a 21-0 deficit (vs OSU).
.
Even if UM went 10-1, we saw what happened when they played a big-boy team in the Citrus Bowl.  A half-dozen teams would have thumped the Wolverines in whatever better bowl they'd have gotten.

They lost 3 regular season games by the thinnest of margins. 12 points combined. They are 10-1 or 11-0 regular season with Henson. I'll believe that to my dying day. John Navarre was completely mediocre that year as a sophomore. He was always mediocre actually. Henson was an elite talent point blank period and would've been a senior. Drew Henson would've been a massive upgrade at the QB position- you know, the most important position on the field.

Henson was an Adonis. He was just on a completely different level than a young Navarre.

I can see Mahomes/Allen facing off for many years.Hopefully Mayfield can weasel in there occassionally

So he passed up a sure fire No 1 in the NFL Draft for the minor leagues?QBs are suppose to be the smartest on the field must have felt different of his chances than you did

if Browns keep drafting successfully and they can get some nice picks in a trade for OBJ- I think they'll be right there with KC/Bills for awhile.
