Kickoff is at 3 PM EDT and can be found on BTN.  Wisconsin is favored by 3 points.

Wisconsin QB Mertz looked OK last week against Army going 8-15 for 112 yards with no interceptions.  Wisconsin did most of the damage on the ground with 198 yards rushing.

Purdue looked awesome last week at Kinnick. The crowd at Ross will be juiced.

I don't see how Wisconsin is favored here. In fact, I'm not sure they will even score.

Thinking about this game...

Karlaftis has to be licking his chops watching film on Beach trying to block in the passing game. He was a revolving door against Hutchinson, and Karlaftis might be even better.

I think this is going to be really fugly.

Wisconsin hasn't had to throw a forward pass to beat the Boilers in a decade and a half [plus], so I'm not sure pass protection will make a difference.

Similar to Purdue having Iowa's number, Wisconsin seems to have Purdue's number over the last 2 decades.  I'm certainly jealous of how easily the Badgers seem to take out the Boilers.  If ever Purdue is gonna get one, this is the year, but hard to go against history.

Run game is middling this year. Might not be an issue.

There have been a few years that the Wisconsin run game hasn't looked as great as usual, and playing Purdue has been the medicine to cure what ails 'em... Wisconsin vs Purdue has been a "get right" game for their run game.

I'm just gonna say it.

UW's OL sucks.

This is NOT all on Mertz. Play calling is also not up to par.

So, I should be working, but this led me to looking up old stats.

The three worst running UW teams in my era (2020, 2015, 2008) only one faced Purdue. Boilers crushed the run game, but gave up more than 320 passing yards to Stave. The next-worst one, which was still pretty good, got a bonkers productive performance from the third-string back, but the starter was decent, not great.

I think what usually happens is sputtering badgers offenses, because of the pass, run into Purdue. Purdue has no ability to force them to pass, and the run game, which is already pretty good, just goes ham

I think OL and Mertz both suck, and play-calling is not making it easier

We've got 2 top 10 teams as dogs to unranked teams,  this isn't surprising to see Wisconsin as a favorite.

I'm not giving up on Mertz - yet.

Did you see UW lost a talented WR this week to the portal?

He said there is talent in the WR room going to waste because of play calling.
