An OL can get hurt, obviously, usually a knee or ankle. It happens fairly often, but USUALLY is not career ending.
My guess is they want to spend the time "preparing" for the combine instead of practicing.
And I think a player somewhat "off the radar" might get some good attention if he has an outstanding performance in a bowl game. He might move from round 5 to 4, maybe.
