I'm being an idiot and already starting to fall into the trap and buying the Bryce Underwood hype too early. I was trashing Harbaugh for like 3-4 years on this board for his complete failure to gain any traction in the Underwood recruitment and saying he had to sell his soul to get Bryce Underwood and that of all the recent high profile QB's to come out of the state of Michigan starting with Dante Moore in the '23 class and CJ Carr in the '24 class that Bryce Underwood was THE ONE that Michigan absolutely without question had to get and that he was head and shoulders above those other two as a prospect.

Bryce is just on a different level physically/athletically/size wise and arm talent wise. Kid is a true freak of nature. Off the charts talent.

There is no such thing as recruiting traction.  Just pay him or dont.  Michigan paid him, LSU didn't

It’s tough not to. It’s a combination of him being one of the highest rated prospects ever and how absolutely terrible Michigan qb play and offense were a year ago. A perfect storm.

this isn't exactly true.

Jeem had a mortal blood feud with Underwood's HS coach and refused to patch things up. Underwood and his family were no fans of Jeem either and that wasn't exactly a secret. Michigan was dead in the water there. And Underwood wasn't going to LSU for free- don't get it twisted- when he committed they had a very nice NIL package lined up for him. What changed the entire equation was Sherrone Moore and Michigan actually ponying up and blowing LSU NIL package for Underwood out of the water. Underwood family really liked Moore- he's a young charismatic black head coach- they related to him. They did not exactly relate to the autistic retard weirdo that is Jeem Odd-baugh. Of course the NIL package they threw at him mattered greatly- but if Jeem never left there is no shot in hell Underwood ever goes to Michigan.

didn't see this, but mildly interesting. makes sense, Davis Warren is still recovering from ACL he suffered in the bowl game and was likely finished seeing the field in any meaningful way at Michigan ever again. Mikey Keene has been banged up with a pec issue and has been limited in spring ball and fall camp. And the other transfer QB Jake Garcia kinda sucks at football.

projected two deep on defense per 247Sports with official heights/weights from Michigan official roster.

DL- Rayshaun Benny, RS Sr., 6'4", 305 lbs (Damon Payne, RS Sr., 6'4", 311 lbs)
DL- Tre' Williams, RS Sr., 6'2", 320 lbs (Enow Etta, RS Soph., 6'5", 320 lbs)
DL- Trey Pierce, Jr., 6'2", 310 lbs (Ike Iwunnah, RS Sr., 6'3", 316 lbs)
EDGE- TJ Guy, RS Sr., 6'4", 250 lbs (Cameron Brandt, Jr., 6'4", 270 lbs)
EDGE- Derrick Moore, Sr., 6'3", 260 lbs (Dominic Nichols, Soph., 6'5", 255 lbs)
LB - Ernest Hausmann, Sr., 6'2", 235 lbs (Jimmy Rolder, Jr., 6'2", 240 lbs)
LB - Jaishawn Barham, Sr., 6'3", 243 lbs (Cole Sullivan, Soph., 6'3", 230 lbs)
CB - Jyaire Hill, RS Soph., 6'2", 190 lbs (Shamari Earls, Fresh., 6'2", 205 lbs)
CB - Zeke Berry, RS Jr., 5'11", 196 lbs (Jo'Ziah Edmond, Soph., 6'1", 185 lbs)
NB - TJ Metcalf, Jr., 6'1", 200 lbs (Jacob Oden, RS Fr., 6'1", 205 lbs)
S - Brandyn Hillman, Jr., 6'0", 200 lbs (Mason Curtis, Soph., 6'5", 211 lbs)
S - Jaden Mangham, RS Jr., 6'2", 195 lbs (Rod Moore, RS Sr., 6'0", 198 lbs)

this is what they project week 1, with the caveat that as soon as Rod Moore is back up to speed he's starting full-time. lot of other young talent waiting in wings they didn't even mention. this defense is going to be phenomenal this year methinks.

Scary.  Coaching staff's attempt to address Michigan's QB depth problems in the off season are for shit.
A decade of Victory over Penn State.

All in since 1969

hopefully Justice Haynes decides to return for his SR season in 2026, but if he doesn't Michigan should be OK with Jordan Marshall and this freak of nature.

I’m not big on high school stats or really recruits, but over 20 ypc for over 300 yards is a pretty crazy performance.

yeah, I get it. I hear you, HS rankings don't mean jack til they prove it. But time and time again the data shows you'd much rather stack high 4* and 5* kids than not.

Savion Hiter is the #9 ranked player in the nation and #1 RB in the 247Composite. On3/247 guys have been talking him up and comparing him to Adrian Peterson. Which is pretty nuts. And top 10 overall player in the nation is a super high ranking for a RB, last time a RB was rated in the top 10 overall players by the 247Composite was the 2019 class with Trey Sanders out of IMG in Florida who signed with Bama. Now Trey Sanders wound up transferring out of Bama and going undrafted and not working out there- so again....ratings aren't the end all be all. But hey if you ask me, I think I'd rather have Savion Hiter in the class than not.
